Can I get some opinions on how DIYs (Buffalo 32, Gamma 2... et all) compare to their consumer counter parts. I've been convinced on the amp front that DIY is a better option but I am not so sure about DACs. Will a DIy compare well to something like an audio-gd which has built in dsp and ummm...

I am getting a really good deal from a friend on Lenovo laptop. Problem is it has no spdif/optical in/optical out. All it has for audio is a headphone jack(not one which supports spdif like apple's). Will this be limiting in my audio journey? Should I care?

wondering about something, I am considering 2 diffrent laptops currently and one has only 1 audio jack which is a combination in/out and the other has 2 audio jacks, 1 for in and one for out. So will have a combo in/out versus a dedicated in and out effect sound quality?
