I experienced the harsh treble in the havi's for the first few hours. Actually I could hardly bear listening to Fun. songs.. For me it eventually smoothed out a bit. Now after more than 100hrs either I've grown accustomed or because of burn in, somehow the havis opened up more and the treble...

Pretty much how I feel about the Havi's. I too do find it a bit dry sounding in the mids, my e11k did tend to help, so too with the bass impact. Can't wait to get my GR07's.   If you can, do comment on the treble. That's my only concern with the vsonics.  Also, have you tried the white tips...

Try the biflanges included. They would seem to cater to your preferred sound and I do love them with metal too. The havis love acdc!    I agree they're great unamped.. And yes with a good pairing amp you get a bit more airiness and to me better depth and dynamic..   Congrats! Welcome!

The Sony seems really portable, but the price is pretty steep and i'll wait for impressions to come in.. The kogan however is so enticing.. Too bad it's only available in hostralia.. 

The foo fighters singles seem well recorded and I enjoy them through the havis using iPod video>e11k.

  I agree that they sound good out of the iPod video without an amp. I ran the b3 for about a month without one.. Curiosity however got the better of me, that and having tried the havis with the ho of the x3, and I finally decided to get an e11k.   out of the e11k, low gain and bass boost...
