IEM Failure Rate (Specifically iM-590)... Input Needed

Hey, Impulse. Sorry for the late reply, I didn't get a notification someone posted. There's a lifetime warranty on them. Interesting how many people cite this problem. The new design of the end of the headphone looks much better, so I'm hoping it will last longer.   I also have a pair of...

IEM Failure Rate (Specifically iM-590)... Input Needed

Hey guys, looking for some feedback.   My main go to IEMs for the past while have been iM-590s. However, my first pair failed on me within 6 months of purchase. Sent them away to be replaced, and now the second pair has died (after 5 months). They both failed due to a faulty jack connection...

Cheap in-ears: Skullcandy Smoking Buds VS. JVC Marshmallows

I have the FX-66s and used to have the Smokin' Buds (before I learned better ) and would say that you should definately pick the air cushions hands down. They aren't that much more expensive than the marshmallows, and supposedly last longer. Very comfortable, though they do not isolate a great...

    headphones for metal?

Sorry, who is VisionRelatedBasicPart (trying to follow the thread lol). Yes, the ATH-M50s are a bit tight on the ears. If you have ears that stick out alot, you may have them running into the screens in the earcups. My ears are something like 2-2.5inches and fit in length wise. 3 inches also...

    headphones for metal?

Hey, Shrooms. I just finished going through the exact same thing. You have an awesome taste in music (a carbon copy of mine :-p). However, the difference in our searches is that I wanted circumaurals for my desk, so noise wasn't that large of an issue. The headphones I decided on were the...

Metal Listener - Alternatives to NE-7Ms/Suggestions

Hi, everyone. I'm looking to purchase my first pair of quality IEMs, as opposed to the crap I have that has failed in a short amount of time, and does not really impress in the SQ department. I was browsing through the forum and found many recommendations for the NuForce NE-7Ms. However...

    Velour/Felt Pads for ATH-M50?

Awesome! Also aside from SQ, how do you find the comfort? Do the M50s apply more pressure with the DT250 pads on, or the same? Has the space for your ear increased at all?

Thanks to Everyone - Search Over

dissembled - Haha yes that's what I was told. Perhaps it's a good thing I set a strict price limit not to go over/didn't have access to listen to the AD900s to sway my wallet to shell out more $ for them . Do let me know how they are, as I've read some comparisons between the 700s and 900s, but...

Thanks to Everyone - Search Over

Hi, everyone. This is just to thank all those who posted on various threads I started, answered PMs, and to Head-Fi as a resource in general. After 6 months of searching, running around to different stores, and trying out various headphones, I finally settled on my first pair of reasonable...

    ATH-M50 or AD700

Hey, asrphani. Both the M50 and AD700 were the two headphones I was deciding between for my first "quality" pair of headphones, after a search for approx. 6 months. I chose the AD700 because of its far superior comfort. I wear glasses, and any closed headphone (especially studio monitors...

    D1001 Vs. ES7 Vs. M50

Hey Kirby, just a heads-up, I originally bought the M50s and loved their sound, but wearing glasses they started pinching the "hook ends" of them, and giving me a head-ache after a while of listening. Sorry to mess up the good-with-glasses reviews lol. Don't know if you've officially decided...

DT770Pro80 Headband - Metal Strips, or Plastic?

Hi, everyone. Just curious for those who have a DT770 Pro 80 if your headband has two metal strips running through it, or just plastic? It was my understanding that all Beyer headbands in the DT770/DT880 etc. vein have two metal strips running through to support the headband, but on one I tried...

    Velour/Felt Pads for ATH-M50?

In terms of isolation with velour it would depend on the headphone. Look at the DT770: Closed headphone with velour that isolates very well. Whereas the AD700 is an open headphone with velour pads that doesn't provide any isolation at all. Your expirience with the velour seems to match what...

    Velour/Felt Pads for ATH-M50?

There definately are replacement pads. When I checked if AT sold any velours for the M50s they stated they only sell stock pleather pads. Check with Long and McQuade and ask them to call for you if you want 'em, $25-$30 I believe.

Ever owned a pair of cans where your ears stayed cool?

I didn't mean to start an argument, but I guess I should've included in addition to my first post, in the title, circumaural. I apologize. When I wrote it, I meant headphones that fully engulf/surround your ear (D2000, DT770, AD700, A700, etc.etc.). However, I am interested to hear everyone's...
