I’m not a 100 percent sure on this answer, but think it would have blown the fuse or tube before causing damage to the preamp. If working I wouldn't stress over it. Glad to hear you like the preamp I love the sound of mine. Currently using Sophie 274b and 3 amperex 7308 tubes in mine.

Between the 6dj8 or the 12bh7 lean slightly towards the 12bh7 rca black plate white letter dimple getter. Once you get into the higher end of the 6dj8 like the 6922 and 7308 there’s some better sounding choice.

If you like the 6dj8 you might want look into the 6922 or 7308 tubes with the dragon. I’m using the Amperex 7308 with great results. Look for the ones from late 50’s thru the 1960’s. Here‘s a link to some excellent info on the finding the best 6922 and 7308 tubes...

Good point and one of the reasons I love this hobby. Can mix match tubes, capacitors, eartips and cables to fine tune the sound to what sounds best to the individuals level of sonic enjoyment. Plus if tired of the sound you can just switch out these components without investing in new equipment.
