Yes Virgina, There is a difference in USB cables
Synchronisation and reliable transfer of audio is also a basis for the USB spec: "An essential issue in audio is synchronization of the data streams. Indeed, the smallest artifacts are easily detected by the human ear. Therefore, a robust synchronization scheme on isochronous transfers has...- hybris

In a futile hope of ending this (an similar discussions about HDMI cables and the like) I actually contacted the guys behind the USB standard with this issue. I got the following reply: "(..)Every data component moved via USB is "protected" by a CRC16 calculation that detects random bit...- hybris

I've used the Q220 as a non-portable bbq at my balcony the last two years, and I'm very happy with it. It's simple and it works - and it's easily big enough for 4-6 people.- hybris

Should There Be A Skeptics' "Cables Make No Difference" Sticky?
Just a quick note to the guys that talk about digital cables improving sound: I think a practical test is in order to prove the point null_pointer_us is trying to make. Try this on a .wav file on your PC: Open the file in notepad (or your favorite text editor) - preferrably a quite short...- hybris

Video on open-mindedness
Why are we talking about religion and dimensions? Isn't the video about considering facts and background when someone tells you something, and that demanding such information before believing someones story or observation is not the same as being closed minded? Great and basic video, I think...- hybris

I don't think you'll ever solve this problem completely. How about starting with moderators that pay a bit more attention and moderate/delete posts with personal insults plus PM the posters warning them that they'll be banned if they repeat n times. And when someone sounds "sciency" in a...- hybris

Can you get vinyl sound from digital with redbook cd?
Vinyl sounds great, but you don't need a high end CD player to get digital music to sound good. I really think you should give a NOS dac (like the D1 from Sigtone). It's cheap and has a natural, warm sound without digital "brittle". It's probably the right path to digital sound if you like the...- hybris

How much will DAC change sound signature?
Anyway, the way the thread starter describes his issues - I'd guess he's better of changing cans - as the differences he'll get with a new DAC will probably be too small to make up for his issues, compared to changing to a pair of cans that has a signature that matches his taste.- hybris
