AEON, MrSpeakers' New Closed Back Planar Magnetic Headphone
I've ordered handmade (VesperAudio) earpads and they have got a similar issue after a few weeks, though to a lesser degree than the original earpads (from 1st gen Aeon). I'm sad to hear Dekoni have the same issue as I was ready to order them this time. I'm considering ordering VesperAudio once...- ai_enabled

The Centrance HiFi M8 thread
Thank you for the quick reply, Michael! It's a bit lower but still loud. I wonder whether it's the proper way to use it as a line out or I just can stop worrying about this and can simply turn down the volume on my Hi-Fi M8 while keeping the middle gain setting (which is the best setting for my...- ai_enabled

The Centrance HiFi M8 thread
Hi guys. Please remind me how to properly use the line out from my Hi-Fi M8. IIRC it should be middle gain setting and the volume must be cranked all the way up, connect via 3.5 mm jack. But when I do it this way, it's super loud when paired with my amp (Aiyima A07) so that I have to turn the...- ai_enabled

They don't look bad in my opinion. Just check that they create noticeable suction when you put the headphones on. The absence of it kills the bass for these closed cans. Though how well they fit depends on your haircut (seriously!).- ai_enabled

I think burn-in will not change anything. Black felt is actually filtering less higher frequencies than any white felt inserts. For the deepest bass, you need to use two-notch white felt inserts (but many find it to take away hights too much; by default, it's shipped with one-notch white felt...- ai_enabled

Hello! They change the frequency response curve as the case with any earpad replacements—the question is only how much and where exactly. These are completely hand-made and were never measured in a lab, so I can express only my subjective opinion. I found these to perform just like the originals...- ai_enabled

After reading a recommendation in this topic I've decided to order VesperAudio custom earpads for around 60 USD + shipping. Got them within 1 month and been using them since January 2021. I'm very happy with my order and rate them solid 4.5/5. I've specifically ordered only man-made materials...- ai_enabled

Please consider posting a quick review of these VesperAudio custom pads! The pads on my AFC are fine after almost 1 year (no flaking despite using them daily for many hours; previously I had a really bad experience with any artificial leather pad materials (Fostex TH-600 "bio-leather" pads...- ai_enabled

An important thing about this video and the earpads is that they can form a bulge not only on the outer upper edge but on the lower edges as well (near the base). Because of this issue, one of my earpads deformed slightly stronger than the other one (the pressure was applied unevenly due to...- ai_enabled

@SteveOliver the stock cable (DUMMER) has 4 conductors and can be rewired for balanced use. Official reply here https://www.head-fi.org/threads/aeon-mrspeakers-new-closed-back-planar-magnetic-headphone.833820/page-309#post-14602297- ai_enabled

AEON, MrSpeakers' New Closed Back Planar Magnetic Headphone
Greetings! After using MrSpeakers Aeon Flow Closed for 3 months I want to share my experience (I cannot call it a review as I don't feel qualified for that, but I have a lot to tell). Coming from AKG K702 and Fostex TH-600 I was initially worried about buying closed headphones. I can say AFC are...- ai_enabled

The CEntrance Hi-Fi M8 V2 Thread
Original HiFi-M8 has a fully balanced DAC and filter stage, but only a single amplifier (to reduce the power drain). The reasoning was explained by Michael Goodman in this post from 2014. New HiFi-M8 V2 will have balanced amplifiers as you can read in his recent comment here: I think there is...- ai_enabled

Reply to review by 'ai_enabled' on item 'Shure SRH1540 Headphones'
Thank you for the detailed review! How does SRH1540 hold up after 3 years? My TH600 is actually gone (one speaker/driver is all the sudden dead!) and these looks great. Especially the better isolation/less leakage, less weight, and better mid range.- ai_enabled

All the sudden, the left speaker/driver on my TH600 is dead. I've just placed it on my table as usual and picked up a few minutes later. I've assumed the wires issue first but when testing the driver directly (by connecting to the soldering pads locations right on the driver) I was unable to...- ai_enabled

@mgoodman, thanks for your quicky reply! Regarding the power switch—I agree, but I meant not a rocker switch with distinctive on/off "sides" (like on the original HiFi-M8). I really enjoy latching switches like this one or this one. So I want to be able to just push the button but with a...- ai_enabled

@mgoodman, I have a concern regarding the new power switch. I really hate all the switches which requires holding the button (especially for 2 seconds) to turn the device on/off. @mgoodman, I will order one too even though I'm pretty happy with my HiFi-M8 (using it daily since 2014) and I don't even consider newer alternatives from other companies. After about 3.5 years of regular usage, my HiFi-M8 started dropping the USB signal every few minutes (so I have to turn it off and on after a few seconds).
