So I have a 2010 iMac connected to a Firestone DAC and a pair of AE5's which you probably know are self powered speakers. I also have a Headamp AE 2 just sitting around doing nothing.   Is there a way, and would it be a benefit to, add the AE2 into the mix?   Just a newbie question.

What? Better the uDac?

I was looking to get a portable DAC for my laptop in order to run my Audioengines. I was interested in the Nuforce uDac, but Im not sure how well this will work since the Audios are powered speakers and the uDac has an amp.   Any suggestions?

I'm in the market for a low cost quality dac. The two that seem to fit the bill are the Bithead and the uDac. Although reviews of the udac are promising there is a recurring comment thru all that mentions a imbalance between the right and left channel. This is most unappealing to me.   So...

So I'm not that savy when it comes to computer audio. With that said, I'd like to think that the uDac will work on my Macbook Pro and that it's as easy as plugging it into a USB on the Mac and then plugging in my speakers to the uDac.   Does that sound right?
