dac vs high end cd transport
My favorite one box CD player is the Audio Note CD-4.1x. Art Dudley reviewed it here : http://www.stereophile.com/content/audio-note-cd-41x-cd-player I have heard this one box player on a few occasions, and it sounds nearly as good as my separate (and more expensive) AN transport/dac.- tin man

Woo Audio Amp Owner Unite
Hello everyone, I have been thinking about getting a Woo headphone amp for some time now, but the more I read the more the consensus seems that you have to roll and roll to get a Woo to sound good. This is a big concern for me. in my experience with good tube amps, especially a good...- tin man

What's the best headphone for under 200?
Quote: In your first post you mentioned the iPhone. If you are going to use an i-device then you are probably better off with 32ohms or 80ohms, in that order. I have the 250 ohm version of the 770Pros and they sound much better with a proper amplifier than just any ol' headphone jack. ...- tin man

Anyone else Tweak their Creek? (pics)
That's the SE (special edition?) power supply that came stock with my 9-year-old OBH-11SE. The ac cable was 6 feet long, and the dc cable was also 6 feet long. I didn't want 12 feet of wire tie wrapped in loops so I trimmed it down and put a new connector on the ac cable.- tin man

Review: Woo Audio WA6 vs. WA6SE (stock units)
This has been a very informative thread. Thanks to everyone for educating me about the two Woo6 amps and all of the possibilities. A couple of questions if I may. How long is the umbilical cable from the PS rectifier unit to the 6EW7 unit? And does it help to physically separate the two...- tin man

Great Electronica (give me suggestions!)
Wow, what a great thread. It's almost like the yellow pages of electronica. Don't forget Future Sound of London and Saul Stokes. On the deeper and/or more atmospheric side, I recommend Steve Roach, Robert Rich, Vidna Obmana, Alio Die, Biff Johnson, Paul Schutze, David Parsons, Temps Perdu... -

I realize the lowly OBH-11 SE is older than your first DVD player, but there are so many of them around that I'll bet some of you have tweaked one just for the soldering practice. I know I did,,,, well,, just out of curiosity anyway. About a year ago I had to replace a blown signal...- tin man

Did room acoustics drive you to headphones as your primary sound source? ... and did it stick?
I got my first set of decent phones (and little amplifier) about nine years ago, when my daughter was a baby. It was the only way for me to listen to music during nap time. And babies sleep a lot! When she got a little older, I sort of neglected my phones. Recently, I realized that I could be...- tin man

What are the most comfortable headphones available?
Greetings everyone! What are the most comfortable, full sized, current production headphones that you own? In other words, which cans would you buy all over again if comfort was the only real criteria? Let's define comfort as the ability to forget that you are wearing headphones after a 72...- tin man
