The discovery thread!
dude. how can you be "into" audio and not know of the huge amount of work done by Dr Sean Olive and Dr Floyd Toole?! that's like being "into cars" and not know the basic principles of combustion engines yes, that research was done on speakers. which has no bearing on what you so erroneously...- praetor47

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?
a question for the experts in this thread, 'cause i'm not reading 4000 pages to catch up :) is there a decent TWS IEM "adapter" with an actually usable, good microphone? i'm not asking for something that will make the listening party able to pick up on the nuances of my farts in the background...- praetor47

ThieAudio Signature Series Tribrid IEMs
soo... any rumours about an Oracle Mk3 that's an Mk1 in the smaller, sexier, more wearable Mk2 shell? a shame they release so many "upgrades" with relatively similar tuning, and yet the one that was the most distinct in their lineup remains the only one without a competent younger brother- praetor47

FlaresPro/FlaresGold by Flare Audio
I'd be also really curious about how they (Pro 2HD or Golds, since they're similar enough) compare to the Xelentos (or the AK T8ie, since they're similar enough :)), particularly for metal and classical music- praetor47

iBasso IT04 IEM, 4 Drivers. Enjoy the Music! Release: July 2, 2018
afaik, the wood version might be coming if their supplier doesn't screw them over, and if it will it will be while longer as it takes a while to produce and it will be a couple 100$ more expensive fingers crossed that we'll see them within a year :)- praetor47

Earbuds Round-Up
haha, yeah. i was trying to get a feel for some earbuds compared to what's currently, imo, the best price/performance value in IEMs.. that i own :) while you're here... how would you compare the IT01 to some of the TOTL earbuds like the Campfred 2, Blur something 300s and Shozy BK? would you...- praetor47

Earbuds Round-Up
would you mind a quick comparison between the 3, and throw in the Wilsound Mk2 while you're at it. if you had to pick one that was the most versatile with most genres, which one would it be? deepest bass (not necessarily the most)? sweetest midrange? biggest soundstage? which one sounds closest...- praetor47

2.5 vs 4.4?
4.4 is better. 2.5 is waay too flimsy for portable use where abuse is frequent. hopefully 4.4 becomes the standard- praetor47

Cases and Organizers for IEMs and Portable Gear
if only they'd provide some alternate form of shipping, because through fedex shipped to europe it's more expensive than the case itself :( (any usa fellas willing to do a favor for a fellow eu headfier? ) -

that's probably because of the "unilateral 4 catheters". it's probably some fancy tech to fit catheters in an IEM :P- praetor47

Astell&Kern AK T8iE MkⅡ(Impressions and discussions thread)
i've been enjoying mine for almost 9 months. pretty much perfect sound sig for my needs, with a nice big airy soundstage (for an iem). my only niggles so far are the subpar isolation (i still have to try them with the spinfit double flanges. the medium single-flanges isolate better, but i can't...- praetor47

The $100 King
is this a thinly veiled recommendation thread? :) anyway, the poll definitely misses some options like the Oriveti Basic and, most ironic of all, the TFZ KING, lol (and Meze 99s, and plenty chi-fis like Kinera, Magaosi K3, Macaw GT600s et etc). and these things are pointless as 90% of the...- praetor47

any 4.4mm L-plug terminated cable?
thank you @cthomas ! that's exactly the stuff i was searching for. going by the picture, it does look a bit stiffer than average, so i'll wait for some impressions/reviews :) hopefully the dearth of options is only because currently only pentaconn does L-plugs and they'r expensive. fingers... -
any 4.4mm L-plug terminated cable?
thank you for the suggestions! that one's insanely expensive for a cable. no way i'm paying 500$ for a cable, as nice as it looks i'll try contacting them, because nothing on their website indicates they have an L plug, and the pictures on their facebook all show a straight 4.4 does nideon... -
any 4.4mm L-plug terminated cable?
Does any of the decent quality cable makers produce a nice mmcx cable with a 4.4mm terminated with an L-plug? i know only of the Earmax on aliexpress (looks subpar even in the pictures), the 2 Sonys (the cheaper one is eh, the kimber one is way too expensive), and the Mee one with the...- praetor47

[REVIEW] Sony MH1 – The Best Kept Secret
same tuning and shape/form factor, but either removable cables (not definitely not flat nor J, for satan's sake!) or provide more options (i.e. a non-mic version, a mic version and a lightning version). but considering even cheapo 15$ chinese iems can have removables, why couldn't Sony :)- praetor47

Sony MH1C replacement/upgrade <100€
So, my gf's MH1C (actually mine, but she used it 99,9% of the time :)), "finally" decided to give up, and since she liked them so much (preferred them over my Westone 3 and DBA-02), and her birthday is coming up relatively soon (within a month) i decided it would be a good time to get a...- praetor47

I have my hands ON the Sony X1000 Walkman - Impressions / Discussions
Quote: at 320kbps they're virtually the same (codec differences at such high bitrates are almost non-existent), but at 192kbps CBR you're better off with WMA (or, better yet, get the LAME mp3 encoder and use a lower quality VBR)- praetor47
