It's not a problem, it'll still stretch to fit to the circle shape. I still preferred the stock pads over them though, but they are nice pads for the money.- sysfail

I had the same issue with the stock D7200 when I first got it. Sounded too congested and had shouty upper-mids/lower-treble. Following zolkis’ suggestion, I opened up the cups and took out the stock dampening material and replaced it with dense Creatology felt + foam material against the flat...- sysfail

Yeah you will have to use a little force just slowly fold the pad away and give a slight bend to the ring for it to slip out.- sysfail

No plans of dropping by Warsaw anytime in the near future, but I do appreciate the offer! If I happen to find a set of cheaper SR900 pads I'll be sure to give them a shot.- sysfail

The Stax Thread III
Thanks for the clarification. So for my setup, this basically means if I were to leave my powered speakers on with the volume up, music would play through my Stax L300 and my speakers simultaneously. Looks like I'll just have to turn down the volume down on the speakers if I want to listen...- sysfail

The Stax Thread III
Quick question regarding the "parallel out" on the Stax SRM-252S, going from PC > Schiit Modi DAC > SRM-252S > powered bookshelf speakers. If I usually leave my powered speakers on 24/7, will sound come out from both the Stax L300 connected to the SRM-252S AND the powered bookshelf speakers? Or...- sysfail

Wow that's the opposite experience from the previous post. I will just have to experiment myself and see what sounds best to me. I'm hoping I like the G cushion pads the most because that looks like it's the most comfortable for extended listening.- sysfail

I just ordered it earlier today! Now it's just the waiting game lol. I certainly don't use Grados for EDM, hip-hop, sub-bass type music and I know they don't do well with those genres. I use them for everything rock, indie, acoustic, alternative, metal, jazz, etc. and they have always been a...- sysfail

Interesting, well I did mod my SR80i to have more bass by putting a few holes in the venting felt as well as using some felt/dampening material on the back of the driver to tone down some of the treble that may be too extreme at times. Also completely removed the driver and plastic housing and...- sysfail

GRADO GH2 - IMPRESSIONS
I was able to get them new so I will need some time to burn them in. I will definitely post what I think here once I've spent some time comparing the 2 Grados I'll have. :dt880smile:- sysfail

Wow surprised to see someone with both. Thanks for the comparison! Which one would you say is more musical and/or natural? What I love about my current SR80i is how "moving" and engaging the music is like I'm in the middle of the music being played live.- sysfail

GRADO GH2 - IMPRESSIONS
That's good to know. I was able to find one and took the plunge for it. Certainly a lot more than my SR80i even with all the mods. Hope it does do everything I love about my modded SR80i's and does them even better! :L3000:- sysfail

I see. Hope it's a rare thing. I know what you mean comparing the D7200 to the HD800(S). My HD800 has its uses though, and EQ'ing certainly does wonders for it. :)- sysfail

I did have some similar complaints about the stock sound of the D7200 with the “shouty” upper mids/lower treble which can get irritating in some cases. I also felt the stock sound was a little “messy/congested” and a bit too dark for my tastes. I took some advice from Zolkis with the Creatology...- sysfail

I believe the Stax pads are much bigger than the stock ones (correct me if I'm wrong). So I'm not sure you can put them around the stock black ring to snap onto the headphones. I believe zolkis mentioned you have to use double sided tape to keep the earpads on. I also believe the stock TH900...- sysfail

Thanks for the response, I definitely went over many of the options written here in this thread, but just wanted a little more input from others to narrow down the search and see which I'll try out first (the pads certainly aren't exactly cheap). The D5200 pads sounds promising as well though...- sysfail

The (new) HD800 Impressions Thread
I agree with EQing on the HD800. At first I was curious to try out the HD800S, but after trying Sonarworks and tweaking it just a little bit, the sound was so perfect I didn't even care for the HD800S anymore. I am also considering taking out my Anax mod as well since I feel it's not necessary...- sysfail
