Does anyone have experience to how these would stack up against the Sony MDR-Z1R?

I purchased my pair about two months ago, and I don't have the rattle problem. I could just be lucky of course.

1) Philips Fidelio X1 2) Sennheiser HD 598 3) Beyerdynamic T-50p 4) Sony MDR-1R

    Not a wonderful shot, but here's my Philips Fidelio X1 on them. I think they look quite good with larger headphones. 

I just purchased a pair of these, it's still early to tell but I think my Beyerdynamic T-50p sounds a bit better, but the MDR-1r is so ridiculously comfortable, and they look amazing. Definitely a pair of headphones I'd be proud to wear outside.

It's such a shame there are no replacable pads, especially since they're such dust magnets.  If I clean the pads, it's going to be littered with dust the following day again.

Sennheiser HD 598

I'd never wear these headphones outside for all the reasons you mentioned, but they're also incredibly large and would attract a lot of attention. The stock cable is also far too long. Other than that, I do think the X1 isolates a -lot- more than my HD 598, I can barely hear my surroundings on...

Here's mine ^^ Been using them with my AudioEngine D1, quite happy with it, but I wonder if there's a better amp to pair these with.

Out of all the headphones I have tried, the HD 598 is probably the best choice for competitive gaming. It does have some mid bass, but overall the lower end is a bit too light for my taste.
