Part of the intro of “True Detective”, season one. The title song is “Far From Any Road” by The Handsome Family: Werner. P. S.: Here’s the direct YouTube link:

    NEW - Schiit Asgard 2

Yes, the Asgard 2 is completely quiet. The noise floor of the first generation Lyr is much higher. I can’t talk about the Sennheiser headphones you mention, but the Beyerdynamic T1 sounds wonderful when connected to a Schiit Valhalla. Regardless of the gain setting the Asgard 2 feels a little...

    SPL Phonitor Impressions Thread

According to → this article by George Walker Petit the Phonitor 2 seems to sound “better”.   Werner.

Best desktop amp for Buyer T1 under $100 used

Are you talking about the Beyerdynamic T1 headphones? I don’t think that you’ll be able to find a matching desktop amplifier within your price range. Bicycle tires are not suitable for cars.   Werner.

Just got some Beyerdynamic T1s, question.

I respectfully disagree. In my opinion and according to my own experience the best match for the Beyerdynamic T1 headphones from this range of Schiit amps are the Valhalla models. They even sound better than the more expensive Lyrs. Werner.

    NEW - Schiit Asgard 2

To be honest: not exactly that good. I prefer the Schiit Valhalla or the Lyr (I own only the first generation models of these amps) in combination with these headphones. The Asgard 2 sounds somehow thin and powerless, regardless of the gain setting. In my opinion the best match in this price...

My left ear canal is bent slightly different than the right one. I was born with this “hardware defect”. Luckily my hearing didn’t worsen as I reached my current age of 58 years. According to my ear specialist, my right channel is still working at full blown 98 percent ;-) Werner.

    Best amp for Beyerdynamic T1

I own a Lyr and a Valhalla (both first generation models), and for my ears the Valhalla is a better match for the Beyerdynamic T1 headphones. Werner.

    Schiit Owners Unite

That’s true, no doubt about it. On the other hand: Did you ever compare the average income in Sweden and the USA? In the last three years I purchased three Bifrost DACs, four headphone amplifiers and a few tube replacement sets directly from Schiit via their company website. Luckily there’s no...

Schiit Asgard: Unboxing and First Impressions

Between six and eight days from Schiit headquarters to my home in Austria. There are three Bifrosts, two Valhallas and one Lyr in my home. Shipment never took longer than eight days, but I always selected the fastest shipment option when placing my orders. Werner.

Schiit Vallhala and DT880 600 ohm

Quote: Tube rolling is available with the recent Schiit Valhalla models. See the → Schiit Valhalla tube rolling thread for more details.   To the original poster: I use an “old” Valhalla with Beyerdynamic DT990 and T1 headphones (both are 600 Ω models) and like this combination a lot...

    FLAC vs. 320 Mp3

Quote:   Classic expectation bias cannot be the case when people are not aware about the audio source or the file type. Please stop telling me and others what we feel, I’ve been listening long enough to both lossy and lossless music, and I do know how I feel after a while.   You also...

    FLAC vs. 320 Mp3

Quote:   You know, we had a → very similar discussion a few weeks ago, and I’m aware that we share quite contrary opinions about the never-ending story “Lossless vs. lossy file formats”.   My assertion has no “scientific” background, I can’t offer any statistical data and I don’t...

Copy files from CD vs "Accurate Ripping"

Quote:   No, it does not depend on the version of Mac OS X, and it also does not matter if there are any additional data tracks on the audio CD or not. In “System Preferences” there’s an option to select the action to be triggered when an audio CD has been inserted. The default setting is...

    320kbps Vs. ALAC

Quote:   Then your music listening habits (and probably also the kind of music you hear) are very different from mine. Also in my home there are three audio chains connected to Airport Express base stations, but a good part of the music I listen to requires a lot of attention. Though I...

    320kbps Vs. ALAC

Quote:   I had this impression already five days ago, as “bigshot” described in detail the setup of his experimental arrangement he used to prove himself what he already knew: that 256 kbps AAC would sound exactly the same as lossless.   Werner.

    320kbps Vs. ALAC

    320kbps Vs. ALAC

Quote:   At that time I wasn’t aware of the legal situation, and I’m not sure how this is handled at the present in my country.   What I do know is that I didn’t cause serious harm to the music publishing industry. Most of my CDs I sold for a fraction of the original price, and all of...

    320kbps Vs. ALAC

Quote:   You obviously are not aware that any serious photographer needs to adjust output contrast and color curves according to the properties of the material or paper the photo will be printed on. Typical newsprint paper is not very dense, and has relatively high dot gain or color...

    320kbps Vs. ALAC

Quote:   The most simple and elegant solution to get great sound is to produce an exact, unaltered, uncompressed copy of an audio file’s binary data and use this for playback.   Werner.

    320kbps Vs. ALAC

Quote:   That’s not true. The “entirely new files” (downsampled to 128, 192 or 256 kbps) only will be placed on the mobile device which is being synced, but these files won’t be added to the local computer’s library.   But Twilight Dawn wrote:   Quote:   Now this of course is a...

    320kbps Vs. ALAC

Quote: Great choice, I’m sure you won’t regret it. Unfortunately I can’t comment on the Zeppelin's performance, because I never had the chance to listen to it, but I guess the differences between 256 kbps AAC and lossless ALAC shall be hard to recognize on this device. When I began to...
