    Charter Oak SP-1: I'm Impressed!

IME,   D100 Amp did not sound that great, in fact the cheap FiiO E9 did better with these cans,   Currently using the Bryston BHA-1.  Substantially better than either of the above and adds some weight to the sound without giving up any of the PRaT.  One of these days I will actually recable...

    New headphone amplifier from Bryston

Moon Audio as a whole recommends it.   Would like an HE-6 someday... part of the reason I went with this amp.   Unfortunately I do not have the specific links of the reviews I read, but they are out there

Hi Guys,   I'm sure Echo would be more than happy to host us again.  Plate is a bit full at the moment but I can try to get the ball rolling at some point the following week.  Will keep you all posted! This area could use another meet.  The last one was a success...

    Amp recommendations for Audeze LCD-2

Quote: I'd just say the ortho sound in its entirety is pretty distinguishable, even if it is hard to put into words.   There is a specificity to the treble and midrange that I seem to hear consistently on orthos, headphones and speakers alike.   It could be the way the bass mids...

    Amp recommendations for Audeze LCD-2

Quote: I've said it in this thread before,   But people with the Bryston BHA-1 and LCD 2 are loving the combo - even some people who have rolled through a lot of amps.   I demoed it with the LCD 2 myself and was pretty impressed.  It was the first ortho I've heard that doesn't...

    Portland Head-Fi Meet (03/02/13) at Echo Audio - Impressions/Pics

sbradley02, All the orthos I tried paired pretty well with the BHA-1...   Made me really think about springing for an HE-6 since I should have the juice.  Real happy with the SP-1 for now, but I'm sure the upgrade bug will rear its beautiful head someday.   I'll start by balancing my...

Portland Area Head-fi Meet: Echo Audio - 03/02/13

Some more news regarding the meet:   I have received word that a representative from a new headphone company, Torque Audio, will be showing up at the meet with prototype models of their first release (IEMs I believe).    Their site (in the making): www.torque-audio.com   It should be...

Were those of you who were finding the single ended operation inferior to the balanced operation also running single ended inputs, or balanced?   I'm not hearing congestion running balanced in and single ended out - but then again I don't have a proper set of balanced cans to compare.

The German Maestro GMP 8.35 D Monitor in the studio... serious about audio, INDEED!!

Quote:   So you're using a common ground then?  Not balanced... it's just that the drivers are no longer wired is series.  Am I understanding you correctly?   Traditional stereo speakers are "balanced" devices themselves and the current runs across them.  You'd run a +/- configuration...

Any $1000 amp improves LCD2s soundstage??

People have really been commenting on how good the BHA-1/ LCD-2 combo is over in the Bryston Thread.   It's a little more than 1K though (1.4K)

The German Maestro GMP 8.35 D Monitor in the studio... serious about audio, INDEED!!

Quote: I think you're slightly confused, but that's okay.   Seems like you're digging the sound.  I've considered balancing my SP-1.  You must've done a twin XLR config if you have independent grounds?

    German MAESTRO - Impressions Thread

Quote: This is exactly what the QP400 and QP805 sound like when underpowered.   I'd say their downside is that they are a demanding headphone, if anything.  SP-1 (QP450 PRO) sounds very flat out of the Bryston unit - I will admit it was cold out of the D100 alone.

REVIEW: Yulong D100 MKII DAC - an update to an already excellent device

Quote: Burning?  Maybe open it up and take a look and let us know where it burned?  Was it at the outputs?   Sounds like you could have had a problem manifesting for awhile and potentially affecting sound quality...   My D100 sounds great as a DAC.  Can't say I've heard that...

I don't want anyone to think I am calling anybody out when I say this, but we have to remember something...   You're the consumer, and as a group we (mostly) get to decide what we want to spend our money on.  Rather than complain about the price... just remember that you don't have to buy...

    Sennheiser MOMENTUM Review

Or your warm head?   I wonder how immune drivers are to this sort of thing.... I know I won't put a silk driver in a car stereo ever again because of the aforementioned condensation and temperature issues. Not only could I hear a difference depending I've actually seen them wear out much...

    German MAESTRO - Impressions Thread

Quote: All I have to offer is my impression of the QP400 (now GMP400), my long term ownership of the SP-1 (QP450 PRO variant, now GMP450 PRO) and my impressions on the Senn HD650.   In a nutshell, if you want speed energy and detail and soundstage the GMP is a no brainer.  If you want...
