I thought the FPGA in Mojo and Hugo 2 is XC7A15T?

Did you buy it new from a shop? If so, talk to the shop first. It's definitely faulty.

Aha, so the delta output at 104MHz is converted to PCM at 104MHz and then it's split: filtered to feed the pulse array modulator decimated for output Happy New Year Rob!

Hugo M Scaler by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread

Streamer without optical output is a severe mistake in my opinion. Most of the internet tells you otherwise. What the rest of the internet doesn't tell you is that it will take you years of head-scratching and vast amounts of money to "beat" optical.

One of the most fascinating things is that with IEMs in place, providing about 25dB of attenuation (obviously varies with frequency), direction and depth perception isn't affected.

The wall behind the speakers is a mirror point for both speakers simultaneously :( Worse, the backwards going sound from the speakers sounds the most different from the forwards going sound. So when sound reflected from the wall behind the speakers arrives at your listening position it is...

3mm ferrites on the DC cable coming out of the HMS SMPS and 7mm ferrites on the AC cable going in to HMS SMPS is a big upgrade. The 3mm ferrites are a tight, awkward fit: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01MRC9JN5 You could use 5mm ferrites instead for an easy fit. The 7mm ferrites are...

    Watts Up...?

@Rob Watts do transient timing errors get "magnified" as the signal gets smaller? So for example quieter instruments or instruments that are playing further away in the soundstage suffer with increased transient timing errors when the recording is being made and then again when replayed through...

Hugo TT 2 by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread

Your second picture seems to show how your electronics are normally positioned for listening. If that's true, then I have two setup suggestions: the USB cable needs to be kept away from the dual-BNC cables as the RF crap in the USB cable is something you don't want to get in to your dual-BNCs...

A litz wire is a bundle/weave of solid core strands: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Litz_wire where each strand is insulated from the others in the wire. There are extreme designs such as this: https://www.lessloss.com/cmarc-rca-interconnect-cable-p-221.html which uses 192 solid strands...

In the WTA 2 section is the HF filter implemented as a distinct set of coefficients for the WTA 2 filter, such that there are two sets of WTA coefficients, one without HF filtering and one with? Or is that block showing WTA 2 followed by a user-activated HF filter? Presumably implementing the...

    Chord Mojo 2: Speculation Thread

Battery technology seems to have barely improved since Mojo's release, so it seems to me that Mojo 2 is about "lessons learnt" being applied to the same basic components with the same power constraints. Same FPGA, same microcontroller. A better charging circuit and a desktop mode? Crossfeed? A...

Yes, otherwise I wouldn't make so much fuss about it. Plenty of others reporting the same. Also when placed side-by-side people have reported sound quality problems. There are people who report no difference.

    CHORD ELECTRONICS DAVE

That's why I added the caveat, "On the basis that it exceeded DAVE's transparency." There's every reason to expect that all of the design aspects in DAVE that make it sound more transparent than TT2 can be transferred into a "TT3" design. For example, the larger count of pulse array elements in...

So I had another look at one of the "leak" pictures: and I now think that the sculpted shape and smooth curves corresponds with a close-up, macro, picture of the "-" button. That "saddle" shape between the "-" and "+" buttons is also seen in this latest picture. I have been wondering whether...

Yes, I've been thinking of this as a volume ball, too, just like TT2. Perhaps this is xMS e.g. a 4 million tap scaler, perhaps in a Choral range chassis, same size and shape as DAVE? HMS has buttons for volume control, but in a new scaler this would be a volume ball? Honestly, I'd rather have...

Book cases full of books in room corners work wonders on nulls, e.g. 2m tall and 40cm wide. Surprisingly, heavy cushions help, too, e.g. 90x90cm duck down cushions (accidental discovery). All of these also calm room zinginess :) The concept of "slowing the air" is why these things help the...

I was wondering, Rob, whether you had ever tried those loudspeaker cables with the ferrites removed. Perhaps you've made entirely new cables and not used ferrites, so perhaps you've not done the comparison to hear what kind of difference there is.

    Watts Up...?

@Rob Watts I'm interested in your opinions regarding the "stuff" that is commonly seen in the output of power amplifiers. As far as I can tell it's quite common for there to be a "Zobel network" or "Boucherot Cell" (or both?) in power amplifiers. One of the considerations here relates to the...

So, WTA1 should be treated as the highest priority, getting the majority of processing in a constrained-DSP scenario. But it does also seem as if 1M taps have not been "fully unlocked" in DAVE. So that when exploring the quality of M Scaler, its ability to "recover" the maximum sound quality of...
