    Pioneer XDP-300R | Twin DAC ES9018K2M | Balanced Out | Android | MQA | 2x MicroSD | WiFi | AptX

My micro usb port has gradually deteriorated over several years. Right now, it only works with one specific usb cable... which is really weird, but it's better than no cables working. Assuming there is nothing better in my price range when this one finally stops accepting a charge, I will...

It might depend on what app you use to listen to music, whether the music stops when the cable is removed.

There are photos where someone did the epoxy thing upthread somewhere. I don't have time to search it up right now, but it's there.

    Pioneer XDP-300R | Twin DAC ES9018K2M | Balanced Out | Android | MQA | 2x MicroSD | WiFi | AptX

I find that the Bluetooth radio in the player is poor. It drops my headphone connection when the player is in my front pants pocket outdoors. Range is slightly better indoors, presumably thanks to reflections off the structure. You may be able to find a location for the player that gets you...

I'm on Linux and not super competent. I just pull the cards out and copy files with a USB adapter when it's time to add stuff. I don't know how to access the cards when they are still in music player. (Should see what happens when I connect the player and look at it in a Win 7 virtual machine.)

    Pioneer XDP-300R | Twin DAC ES9018K2M | Balanced Out | Android | MQA | 2x MicroSD | WiFi | AptX

I spent some time this week measuring idle battery drain. During the tests, the player was sitting on my desk at work, intermittently connecting via wifi to look for podcasts, Bluetooth off, screen off except for quick checks of battery percentage at ~half hour intervals. I checked drain from...

Not a big deal. There's a graph in the stock battery app, but I can't figure out how to use it in a meaningful manner--can't zoom in or see axis labels. But a few rounds of half-hour checks should give me a decent trend. (Materials engineer, also a ham AC2VO.)

Running same test. Playing flac off the sd card using stock music app with ampere running and the screen off. Turn screen on every half hour to check ampere and battery percent. After half hour, battery drops from 75 to 71%. When screen is on, Ampere says drain is -210 mA. Can't seen drain...

Never pay full price at HDTracks. There's always a discount of some sort around the corner.

Is it possible to add/remove music to/from the SD cards without removing them from the player? It's likely that this is a straightforward plug-and-play thing on a normal OS, but I'm foolishly (brilliantly) running Arch Linux, so when I plug the player into USB it just sits there and charges...

aftermarket balanced cable with MMCX Connectors for Westone W-Series

Did you ever sort this out? I'm just a poor boy with a pair of W30s, but I'd love to hear how they sound on a balanced source.

Should I give up hope that there will ever be another firmware update for this device? Edit: Specifically, I am wondering if any "usability" features will ever be added, such as the option to take advantage of Album Artist metadata.

The notes I wrote above actually didn't end up working for me. I eventually was able to import playlists with the correct name, but their content was always NOTHING.   I got so mad at playlists not working for me that I gave up on the whole concept for a long time. Today I revisited it and...

For kicks, I've been writing down the percent battery remaining and keeping a running stopwatch of play time. Not convenient to post a graph, but the drain is reasonably linear, losing about 9% per hour. Pretty much exactly what the spec says to expect. Recent usage has been a mix of FLAC music...

Me neither. I had a lot of trouble with my first unit (returned), and have written some pretty mean/angry things about the firmware in this thread. But it works reasonably well at this stage of development. I like the suggestion for a "locked, but not the volume" option. And I long for, as...

Nice. You remind me, though, that while I love love love the physical buttons, I wish that the middle button had any sort of texture to it--grooves, a few braille dots, anything--because I am absolutely terrible about accidentally pressing the wrong button. Having one of the three (middle makes...

dbaker1981 -- I have not had any problems with the SPDIF output, but probably because I don't use it. And I don't have anything more than the obvious to suggest: Try another cable ($) before trying another DX80 ($$$$). Come to think of it, you may be able to go to somewhere like Best Buy and...

I can't help with this question, but I will use it as an opportunity to complain (respectfully) that since I have so many "various artists" compilations, the notion of looking at my music library on the DX80 "by artist" is absolutely worthless--just hundreds and hundreds of one-off artists...

I've been pretty critical (sometimes regrettably so) of iBasso in the few posts I've ever made to this forum, so I thought it only fair to report that the 1.5.2 firmware has more or less fixed all the problems I had with the previous firmwares. If I had more money (or fewer dependents), I'd...

I never said that. They don't hate us, they just don't care if we have a bad experience. They are working on the next product. And I'm sure "Paul" is a great guy, but forum posts don't make my expensive machine work correctly.

This sort of nonsense is why it's clear that iBasso does not care about their customers. There are dozens and dozens of posts in this thread like this one--from people who are bending over backwards to debug and troubleshoot for the benefit of iBasso. It should not fall to the customer to...

It is pathetic that iBasso has not released a firmware update that fixes the garbage (reboot while scanning) problems that 1.4.2 introduced--and that people like me are stuck running 1.3.3 while iBasso works on FW for their next hardware release. I know that shame is not a concept that is...

With 1.4.2 (and 1.4.1), mine crashes while scanning 5000 flacs divided between 2 cards. One card has only around 300 items. Those all scan correctly. The crashing always happens at some point while it's scanning remaining 4700 flacs on the other card. All the files are tagged consistently. As I...
