Is burn in real or placebo?

I would agree that a person's hearing or hearing perception can change over the course of a day or even a single listening session. As I have been listening on headphones almost exclusively for the last several years, a typical session might start at, say 11:30pm, and go til around 1am. DAP and...

    7Hz Impressions & Discussion

I was sweating the disk thing too as I have relatively small ears but it fits in there nicely and the only thing I can feel, at times, on the top edge of my ears, is the curved wire and the MMCX connector, more on my right ear for some reason. Really minor nitpick though and with a smaller gauge...

Thanks, I had gotten that .153 number from the online calculators but it didn't seem right to me either. I'll dig a little deeper into mine and see what I can come up with. Just anecdotally the Shanling runs the Timeless pretty well on high gain although when I run it through my Schiit Magni2U...

Is there an easy calculation for Amps? I'm trying to figure out the Amp rating for my Shanling M6 Pro 21 which is rated at 760mW @32Ohms in balanced mode at the highest gain setting. It's also listed as 4.93V@32 Ohm (760mW). Not sure how to do that calculation for Amps.

    SIVGA SV021 — Impressions & Discussion Thread

Interested to hear your comparison to Z7. I find that I grab my SIVGAs more often than not, especially when listening at low volume. I find that paired up with my Shanling DAP putting out 3/4W, they have a visceral, filled-in sound that really brings a dramatic component to a listening session...

Sivga 021s thru the trusty M6 Pro 21. Nice wooden synergy with Ralph Towner's Guild 12-string from Anthem.

    7Hz Impressions & Discussion

I only have experience with one other IEM--the Fiio F9 Pro--and its barrels/tips seem to go farther into my ear canal than my Timeless. I kept thinking with the Timeless...is this OK? I still got a nice sound from the Timeless but it didn't seem quite as isolating as the FiiO and with my lack of...

USB Audio Player PRO (UAPP): 24- and 32-bit playback, ubiquitous USB audio support for Android

What Android version does it have? UAPP apparently requires 5.0 and up. I can just still use it on my FiiO X5III that has Android 5.1. You could try older versions of UAPP but it may not validate the install with Google Play or you might not be able to log in to Tidal or Qobuz (note: I do not...

    Hifiman Edition XS Launched

Very nice. It looks like it's made for the headphone! I've done something along those lines with my Drop HE-X4's, in my case to get better comfort--I added an OEM Sennheiser HD-650/6XX headband pad in a similar fashion using the smallest amount of Scotch velcro tape at either end, just enough to...

DROP + HIFIMAN HE-X4 PLANAR MAGNETIC HEADPHONES

3 month follow-up: Still using these almost daily. Great synergy with my Shanling M6 Pro 21 on Turbo Gain (760Mw at 32 Ohms). Can always use more power--over 1W recommended-- but still good with the Shanling. Something about these cans--I'm finding that the longer I wear them in a given session...

HD-6XX's: Sirabhorn and Bright Size Life from Pat Metheny Side Eye V1 IV. They beautifully capture and even expand on the spirit of the originals! Thing with the Senns is they give some nice details, especially James Francies' uncanny skill on synth bass.

Thanks for the clarity and I'm sure you're right, it must have been '83. I'm pretty sure they were calling themselves "The Dregs" and had temporarily dropped the Dixie part.

Great pics! Been a long-time fan. Got to see them live in '84 or '85 in Las Vegas at a large club. I think they were in their "Dregs"-name mode at the time but it was the original members as I remember. What If was my intro and has remained my favorite of theirs through all the years.

My lowly HE-X4's: James Francies' "Ain't Nobody" from Flight. These things have got some surprising speed, keeping up with this very dynamic track. Amazing what a mere $129 can get you these days. Nice synergy with the M6 Pro 21 helps too. Ditto for Aaron Parks' "Digital Society". This one...

Closed back wireless headphones that aren't Sonys or Boses. Trouble finding a wireless M40x upgrade.

I've simply got it velcro'd to the left earcup. You can google modding the m40x for Bluetooth. You have to remove the locking mechanism in the 2.5 mm jack and insert a small adapter with a 2.5 mm plug on one end and a 3.5 mm female jack on the other. It's super easy to do and amazon sells the...
