Oriolus Traillii Electrostatic Hybrid IEM discussion thread

I definitely shared the fear initially. I think some of it has to do with the fact that there are so many hyped new IEMs that dropped at the same time. Plus, many of them scratched an itch that folks had been asking for for a while (in audiophile IEM terms, like a year, lol). An Ely with DD...

Also, this is how I pack mine. I do use the red piece to hold the W2.

I bought the below from Campfire and it’s a MILLION times better for me. https://campfireaudio.com/shop/ca-mesh-iem-bag/

Great buyer, solid communication. Would definitely do business with again. Classified feedback not allowing feedback for post for some reason.

Okay, so I've spent 30 minutes rapidly swapping from Thummim to Homonculus to Erlkonig to Traillii. Zero comment on how they sound at this point, but one thing is for sure: the Traillii fits my ears REALLY well. The Traillii is super light in comparison (not a surprise given the materials used).

Very fortunate that the Audio Tiers tour timing worked out in my favor. The Thummim/Homonculus kit AND the Erlkonig kit happened to show up at my door at the same time! Looking forward to comparing all three to the Traillii this weekend!

@Levanter you and @tawmizzzz might be interested in this post since we were all looking for an Ely with DD bass back in March ;)

Oh boy, I think the only thing that might draw any consideration from me away from the Traillii would be the Ely with DD bass (at least that's what I thought back in March of this year, remember posting it somewhere in the 64 Audio thread after I had the Ely on tour). If I'm honest, the design...

Edit: Oops, just realized your comment wasn’t a reply to me. (my comment) Wasn’t aimed at you, or anyone in particular. I’m always happy when people find something they love to listen to! I just appreciated the nuanced comment from MrLoco about better versus preference. I occasionally spend...

I couldn’t agree more with the above. I’m not trying to start a subjectivist versus objectivist debate, but I’ll say this anyway: it’s all based on preference. Full stop. It’s similar, to me, when people say “the goal is to reproduce music as close to what the artist intended”. First, how can...

As an aside, I continue to be surprised how small the Traillii is when I see it next to other IEMs. Comparison to Nio for scale (because that’s all I have now). I always expected it to be bigger. Not sure why, but when I first saw pictures it just looked big. But it isn’t. edit: happy to take...

That’s a light grip for such an expensive load. I’m relieving my anxiety by telling myself your hand is over your bed… Excited to hear more comparison. Is that circle on the FS the bone conduction?

So after another day at the office, listening to the bird through the W2, I’m one step closer to going totally portable and ditching the SE200. If I’m not doing side by side comparisons, the W2 still sounds amazing and has me smiling and jamming to the music. The added benefit of fitting...

Way off current topic, came across a (very) random video on YouTube. On the Traillii, still sounds good, got goosebumps when the chick came in for the harmony (or maybe I’m biased because my kids have the same cat piano). Everything sounds good on these!!

Man, that’s super helpful. Thanks! Based on what you describe, the M8 seems more up my alley. I do like some extra bass thump! And with the Traillii’s level of detail, the added warmth would pair well. Maybe why so many here have it!

Thanks for that! I actually just shipped out an N6ii today...and mentioned during the sale that the R2R was interesting lol! I’m coming from the 64 Nio, so I like the bass. Also feel the treble is super clear with the Traillii, so if the M8 adds some bass without messing with the treble, it...

Well, I plugged the W2 into my laptop and did my best to volume match my laptop to my iPhone 12. Placebo or not, the iPhone sounded congested compared to the laptop. Surprisingly, the W2 out of the laptop was much closer to the SE200 than I expected. Unfortunately, I'm not rolling to the...

This hits home for me. I felt that way when I bought my first nice pair of IEMs (Shure SE215)...and when I got my first nice pair of headphones (AKG 7xx)...and when I upgraded...and when I upgraded again...and again...and again... It’s always fun to hear something new, but it doesn’t mean I...

That’s exactly how it feels to me! I haven’t experienced this feeling, to this degree, with anything else (though, admittedly, I haven’t heard a ton of IEMs/headphones). And, I don’t know a better way to describe it. It’s an addicting feeling for sure.
