Hugo M Scaler by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread

I look forward to hearing your thoughts regarding the effects on sound quality...whether there is an audible difference or not:)

    Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread

I have a lot of Chord gear now, but back in 2015 when I first got into this hobby, I always wanted the Yggdrasil...having just become aware of the GS version, the price point was just too good to resist. I just placed my order and am excited to test it against my Gungnir MB!!! I will post...

Hugo M Scaler by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread

Finally...you seem to be hearing what most people who hear the M Scaler are hearing. I sincerely wonder if the new unit was defective somehow the way you were describing it. I have no doubt that M Scaler + Dave is god mode. I just wish you still had the TT2 that you could hook to the used M...

New Amp from HeadAmp - GS-X Mini

The V281 has always been the amp I never really connected with. I am not sure why. People describe it as having a warm tonality, but the GS-X is the exact sound signature that I was looking for. After a week or so of testing the GS-X, the V281 will be going up for sale:)

New Amp from HeadAmp - GS-X Mini

I actually have both an Ares II and a Pontus II incoming next week. Ares arrives on Monday. I bought the Ares first and then a buddy of mine was selling his Pontus so I figured "what the heck?" The GS-X Mini is an amp I have had my eye on for quite a while and I am seriously impressed so far. It...

Hugo M Scaler by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread

I am intrigued by your initial impressions...what amp are you using with the Dave? Have you had a chance to try the internal headphone amp on the Dave with a headphone that is a bit easier to drive? I am also considering the Dave but just wish it had the internal amp from the TT2. I also wish I...

I use Filter 2 nearly 100% of the time, unless the recording is poor and then I will very rarely use Filter 4 to provide slightly more fullness.

Hugo M Scaler by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread

I added an M Scaler to my new TT2 on Sunday and I have been listening for 4-5 hours per day ever since. It is one of the most interesting devices I have ever added to my audio chain because I think it requires time (and perhaps a "listening curve" to fully understand). It would be a very hard...

Hugo TT 2 by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread

I am currently in the process of researching network streamers (currently looking at the SOTM SMS 200) as the final component in my headphone chain. This will liberate my MacBook Pro from my system once and for all. As I have been tweaking things here and there I have a question regarding...

I am sure after owning the M Scaler for a while, you guys just leave it on the Max setting. But in the first few days of ownership, I have been playing with the OP SR button and I am wondering where you guys think the largest improvement occurs? I notice a huge difference moving from Pass...

Hugo TT 2 by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread

More and more I am moving to the internal amp on the TT2...it is just so freaking good and I am loving the detail and transparency. Now that I have added the M Scaler, I will be using the internal amp exclusively for a while. I have come to the conclusion that all external amps do "color" the...

Hugo TT 2 by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread

The difference between the Qutest and the TT2 + M Scaler is about as dramatic a difference as I have ever heard upgrading my audio chain. You can rest easy...the differences are not at ALL subtle. Night and day.

I know this has been discussed, but I have been using Low Gain with both the Hifiman Arya and the HD800S. I have plenty of headroom and just don't seem to need more power, but I read somewhere that using Low Gain adds an extra resistor to the circuit, meaning, theoretically High Gain would be...

Hugo TT 2 by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread

Yes...that pretty much summarizes my initial impressions, but I have an open mind and am excited to use it exclusively for a couple of weeks to adapt to what I am hearing...it sounds great, no question. When I added the TT2, I improved my audio chain quite a bit. The differences the HMS is...

Hugo TT 2 by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread

This sentence may be the most ridiculous thing I have ever read on Head-fi, and that is really saying something. I was simply stating that, after only listening for an hour, that the right price point for the device in my opinion seems to be around $2250 to $2500 based on the improvements I am...

OK...HUGE UPDATE...my M Scaler has been sitting at the FedEx hub in Memphis since 2/14 with no updates since 2/16 due to severe weather. It was originally shipped on 2/11 for overnight delivery so I was starting to lose hope. Last night, it left Memphis and arrived in Denver. This morning...

Hugo TT 2 by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread

Exactly! I noticed the same thing...the TT2 was expecting 88 and it was being fed 44. When I unplugged and replugged the light turned red and everything resumed as normal. Hopefully this is just a finicky attribute of the device and not a defect of some sort. Glad to hear I am not the only one...

Hugo TT 2 by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread

I am not sure if this is a reply to my post, but the reason I am plugging/unplugging is that I am moving my laptop with me all around the house and go back to my listening station periodically throughout the day. I would not unplug just to switch to the speakers on the MBP if I am staying...

Hugo TT 2 by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread

Also...to provide more clarification, I tend to leave the TT2 powered on during the day if I will be listening a lot throughout the day. While it is on, I can plug and unplug the USB-C from the MacBook Pro as many times as necessary and I never experience the issue. It is only if I plug in too...

Hugo TT 2 by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread

I have a question if this has ever happened to your Hugo TT2. I run mine from Roon ROCK server to my MBP to the TT2 via USB. When I set up at my listening station, I turn on the TT2 and if I plug the USB into the MacBook while the TT2 is booting up (before it finishes the complete bootup...

Congrats! I hope you have better luck with delivery than I am having. My M Scaler was shipped overnight FedEx last Thursday for Friday delivery. FedEx chose to skip the final pickup of the day due to weather, but then blamed the seller even though he dropped it off 2 hours before the deadline...
