    HiFiMan Susvara

Mike Powell made us some cables that have really brought out the best in our Susvara rig. !! I don’t know if he plans to market them for the retail market or not...and I don’t know what he’ll charge, but if you have a balanced system, you’ll want to audition these...Verastarr (probably not for...

Very nicely holds two cans. Not always easy to find a nice stand that doesn't cost silly money.

No link yet, but I'll forward one as they update their site. However, this is a production model, simply a new one. The headphones puts out 10 watts at 50 ohms. As mentioned the output tube is the 811.10 It is called the Head 3 in keeping with Trafomatics previous headfi amps. I think it...

system dependent. they are similar but different approaches. similar in that they're both using resister conversion, different in output stages and upsampling. Rockna does as little as possible to the signal off of the modules...it does give you some digital options as well. AC has a tubed...

Aries Cerat Kassandra II Mk2 DAC

All good choices. The lesser to your ears will still be very good I imagine. To be clear, Bob Clarke of Profundo imports Viva (as well as Transfiguration, Trenner and Friedl, Heed, and Silent Source.) All excellent gear. We're happy to cooperate with him. We import Trafomatic, Boenicke...

The Type 50 and the 845 are both great tubes.  A lot depends upon the circuit in which they're placed.  Properly used, I prefer the Type 50.  It is used far less than   the 845 due to it's much lower power.  However the power curve of the Type 50 is better suited to headphones, is I believe...

    Trafomatic Head 2

Yes, he did. We've never had a repair that took that long. Given that there were only 2 amps that we knew of that had the soft touch finish, and we knew who had one, and the other had been leant to a headphone company to audition, we thought the unit was stolen initially. It was the tracking...

Aries Cerat Kassandra II Mk2 DAC

for rich harmonics, you may like our new all out headphone amp from Trafomatic. There will be two versions, one for planars and dynamic drivers and another for Stax and the like. We were going to have an outboard transformer for the Stax, but after hearing one purpose made, it crushed us...so...

    JVC SU-AX7 - new portable headphone amp/dac

I was hoping they were using the K2 chip from a long time ago.  It was based on what they learned in XRCD processing.  Hard to find those chips nowadays.  Similar tech that goes into Reimyo units.

    Best looking tube amp

Yes, I have.  We had it playing into a pair of Beauhorn Virtuosos, some Avantgarde Horns among others, and then I did play with it quite a bit with cans (which was a minority endeavor at the time).  I've been fortunate to hear quite a bit of Kondo's top gear in the past few decades.  It was not...

Great to meet you Mike.  I love that you love what you do so much.  You could have kept me LMAO for hours had it not been for, well, the audio show in the background.   See you at the next one I hope.

Dr. Chesky's Ultimate Headphone Demonstration Disc - Head-Fi TV

Awesome.   On my way to buy it now.  I hope they continue to put out binaural as an ongoing service.  I have to imagine it adds quite a bit of time (cost)  and effort to the recording process.  Talk about turning a corner.  Have you ever heard the Smyth Analyzer A8?  Does it produce similar effects?

So glad you liked them Barry.  As an aside, the Crayon (current production model) and Mal Valve also drive Stax cans, and the Crayon can be ordered in several different configurations.  The Crayon demo we had in today had two 3 pin studio outs (for the Abyss) a 4 pin and a 1/4...we did get an...

I also really like the Wadia 121 as an entry level option.  It has a variable output to 4v, which is great for the Traf and Tak!!.  The Auralic Vega is also variable to 4v...a frighteningly good combo.   f
