    The Official Sennheiser IE800S thread!

After much comparison, I conclude that I cannot decide whether or not balanced is better than SE. I think of balanced output as listening to a concert in a church, while SE is more akin to listening in a small venue. More intimate, but some intricacies get lost. A concert in a church is...

    The Official Sennheiser IE800S thread!

Yeah, your experience vastly varies from mine. I remember prior to my IE800S purchase that you said your ZX300 made the IE800S distorted some times. While I have found my ZX300 drives the IE800S like a breeze without any distortion.

You're entitled to your own opinion ofcourse, but Sony's Walkmans are to many listeners far superior than these iBasso's, which are made by conjoining parts that many manufacturers use. The Sony's are all designed in-house by Sony; amps are their own, connections are their own,... and just...

Well, for a balanced cable it is rather lightweight.perhaps that contributes to the perceived discrepancy

Plenty of power on the ZX300 (Asia-pacific model).

I know that of course. It's not about the difference, it's that the 3.5 mm sounds better to my ears now (both ports fully burned-in)

    The Official Sennheiser IE800S thread!

After spending most of my time with these on balanced, I've now retried the 3.5mm cable. I'm not sure if it's just my brain picking up on something different, but right now I feel the 3.5mm sounds better to my ears. Less separation yes, more frontal yes. But more overall body and coherence...

    The Official Sennheiser IE800S thread!

I'm completely satisfied with these IEMs after 2 (?) months of frequent use. I'm not the person to use many IEMs and I think these are up to the task of serving as a day-to-day IEM (save bedtime, for which I use Klipsch x10). BUT: has anyone had these destroyed by rain yet? This is what I'm...

    Sony NW-ZX300

After 100hrs I remember there was not much difference. My ZX300 really started to shine after 300hrs. You'll have to let that baby play overnight, or your ZX300 will be old before you'll have the best of its capabilities :)

    Klipsch x20i in ear monitors

Hi there @Basil Fawlty . So I've got the X20i and have perhaps let them burn in for 10 hrs. To me they feel like an X10 with slightly more treble and much more mid-bass and midrange body overall. They sound really nice, but for now I find the difference wih my X10 too marginal to be honest. If...

    The Official Sennheiser IE800S thread!

Tbh, if I hadn't purchased the optional oval tips, I'd probably have returned the IE800S. The oval tips fit me so much better than any of the included ones. But it takes a bit of adapting to the undeep fit compared to my Klipsch X10 (which sit very deep). I sometimes think I don't have a good...

    The Official Sennheiser IE800S thread!

That case sure is a frustrating thing, but the leather is nice! After playing with it for a while, I think the 'designers' had one thing in mind only for this case: protection of the buds themselves, not the cable. The only way the case is usable without dangerously bending the cable connection...

    NEW SONY NW-ZX500

Yes, many people seem to feel that way for sure. Hence, why I was so eager to finally have an Iem that came with both se and 4.4 cables. But alas, while I do hear more punch and bigger soundstage with 4.4, it's not decisive for me.

    Klipsch x20i in ear monitors

Good to hear, I'm looking forward to receiving mine :) It is unfortunate that Klipsch seems to focus on wireless earphones now. Especially since the comfort is in a class of its own. I've got the Sennheiser IE800S and love them, but nothing beats Klipsch IEMs for comfort imo

    NEW SONY NW-ZX500

Odd, very contrary to my experience. I've tested the Senns 800S on both outputs and the balanced were winning, but not by much. It does need the burn-in , I feel the balanced needed less burn in. perhaps that contributed to your assessment

    Klipsch x20i in ear monitors

Hi there @BasilFawlty . I've just bought these. They were on my wishlist for a long time, but I couldn't justify a premium X10 at that price. However, Klipsch seems to have discontinued nearly all of their wired IEM's and shifted to focus on wireless headphones. Too bad, but it did mean that I...

    NEW SONY NW-ZX500

Hi everyone, As the owner of a ZX300, initially the ZX500 did not seem like anything special nor a reason to upgrade. For one, because I don't use streaming and in addition to that, I've no qualms using the Walkman port. But on Sony's specs (official website), I see that the ZX500 has 50 mw...

    The Official Sennheiser IE800S thread!

No, I haven't auditioned them. Because of two things; the mentioned drop between sub (mid?) Bass and mids. And the larger fit. I figured I like tiny IEMs too much.

    The Official Sennheiser IE800S thread!

Hi everyone, Opinions are quite heavily opposed regarding these IEMs. I wonder, is there anyone who could give me a nuanced view? I'm looking to upgrade and am in doubt between these or the Xelento. I've been using Klipsch's X10's the past three years and really like the tiny design without...

    NEW SONY NW-ZX500

I think Sony's strategy with this player might just be to retry and broaden the market segment for Hi-Res to music enthusiasts who do not care about ownership of music as much, where the ZX-2 was perhaps too early to be embraced by this segment of the market. Nonetheless, they will alienate...
