    SONY NW-WM1Z / WM1A

Late to jump on board the 1Z bandwagon and I have question for those that have paired it with the Shure KSE1500. Can I and if so should I use a 4.4mm balanced to 3.5mm analog interconnect between the 1Z and the KSE? I appreciate any help and pardon me if this question has been asked and...

Hehe thank you and of course teasing is not only allowed it is encouraged. Let us face facts progressive music fans are members of a small cult. Most music people hate our music. My sister and her family just got back from Sweden to visit her brother in law's family. I listed a bunch of great...

I owe all here an apology. Steven Wilson's 'To The Bone' is not as bad as I thought and wrote. Also, I found a way to salvage a pretty decent Porcupine Tree album from it. If you delete songs 2-3 and 6-7 you are left with 7 songs and 46 minutes of Porcupine Tree lite music reminiscent of 'In...

I feel your pain. I turned 50 last year and my brain turned to mush. As for 'The Incident' while I agree it is not one of the Tree's best remember it is a concept album and try listening without interruption from start to finish and it may come to you. Hell, it took me almost 40 years to "get"...

Unfortunately, you are thinking of the last Porcupine Tree album, 'The Incident'. 'Fear of a Blank Planet is only 6 songs with the brilliant song "Anesthetize" (with the Alex Lifeson's guitar solo) as its centerpiece.

With all the talk of Steven Wilson, I am listening to what to me is his masterpiece in his career so far. Porcupine Tree's 'Fear of a Blank Planet' in glorious 48/24. My God is Gavin Harrison amazing.

For those looking for a truly beautiful album, try Quella Vecchia Locanda's self titled first album. From Wikipedia, "[a]ccording to an interview with Don V. Lax, the violin player of the first album, 'I would find some Bach or Brahms or Corelli and weave it into the music so we were making a...

I would love a chart thank you. All kidding aside how do you reconcile the live album with the studio. To me it was a moment of cognitive dissonance.

I went from brash to having a mental illness. Are you reading my posts? Clearly not. The autotune is happening on the studio albums because of you listen to the live album there is absolutely no comparison.

Also, Wilson admitted that on '4 1/2' the "live" version of "Don't Hate Me" sung as a duet was remastered in the studio. To eliminate crowd noise or improve his voice? Please listen to the live album I mentioned and draw your own conclusions.

I may be brash but you are clearly illiterate. I already stated listen to what is regarded as the best live Porcupine Tree album 'Arriving Somewhere But Not Here' and compare the vocals to the studio tracks. The only conclusion I could draw was massive use of autotune.

Kopanedepooj I do not want to come down too harshly but after years of throughly enjoying every incarnation of Steven Wilson from No Man, Porcupine Tree and his solo work I recently discovered the emperor has no clothes. I bought what is considered the best live Porcupine Tree album, 'Arriving...

I will not endlessly debate with you but please remember this is a thread dedicated to progressive rock and in no way shape or form is 'To The Bone' progressive. Further, comparing it to 'The Raven That Refused to Sing' a masterpiece of progressive music, is a joke.

Shure KSE1500 Review - Shure KSE1500 Sound Isolating Electrostatic Earphones

I could not agree more. About 16 months ago on this thread I, in my ignorance, sang the praises of the Sensaphonics custom sleeves and assumed any and all would find them a vast improvement as I do. Thankfully more learned minds here corrected me that your personal in ear anatomy plays an...

Shure KSE1500 Review - Shure KSE1500 Sound Isolating Electrostatic Earphones

My experience with the Sensephonics custom sleeves is completely opposite of Michael's. To me they opened up the sound across the spectrum and I find them very comfortable. A great improvement from any universal tips. I like Maurice aka Moedawg would recommend the full sleeve and the smoke colored.

This is not a surprise at all. I think what Steven Wilson did not realize is as much as we progressive people hate to admit it takes a lot of talent to conquer two musical genres as Genesis did and not end up like Emerson Lake and Palmer's 'Love Beach' or 'To The Bone'.

Hibiki during playback of a song has a graphic of what it calls the original wave and a "converted" wave. That is what has me concerned.

I will be interested in the creators response because the "converted" sound according to the app can be at a wide variance to the original.

It looks that way to me. If you choose 44.1kHz it does play higher resolution music at the proper sampling rate but the app says it is modifying the music which I want to avoid. Another problem is the user interface is mediocre at best. Back to NePLAYER for me.

Just wanted to let you know, KaiserTone just had an update and after some comparisons I switched over from NePLAYER to KaiserTone. Do not ask me to explain since my iPod is acting simply as a digital storage device to the Mojo and I have all EQ and upsampling turned off but the clarity and...
