    TAOBAO GOLDPLANAR GL850 + GL1000 + GL1200

to be clear the adapter itself needs to be female on both end if going into Jot R when using gl1200 cable. Ribbon swap is easy, but don't force anything if u have to force then you are doing it wrong.

yeah, they are flimsy plastic, and easy to mess up, also whatever you do, don't subject them to dust either. I wore gloves, hair cover, and mask when handling them :)

And if I had to guess how Ifi units perform self-diagnostic on the tube, is a simple combined output reading of tube 1 and tube 2. if the variance is higher than a specified value, it won't power the tube circuit to protect itself.

There are two criteria when it comes to matching, don't get mis-lead by random sellers: Matching based on manufacturing date. ie. matched pair where both were made in 1950 week 15 Matching based on tube tester reading. So given these are dual triode, the reading could be 44/44 if both triodes...

    Your “wow” headphones

guess its quite easy to misconstrue when you read what you want to read. I'm simply indicating that TC as its the hardest hitting planar, and Hive for me is the hardest hitting eStat. It isn't comparing Hive to TC.

    Your “wow” headphones

those that complained probably don't have the right equipment to drive them. BHSE or KGSSHV are hot garbage and antiquated technology IMO. *runs from stax mafia* they were about 10db less sensitive than 009's, but bass slam and impact like it was abyss 1266 TC for a estat. also the imaging, and...

    Raal Ribbon Headphones - SRH1A

Wish Raal can spend the time to make a better interface box with higher quality components so folks still have freedom to use whatever speaker amp that they fancy.

iFi Audio Pro iESL - The Official Thread

You have the wrong idea. the iESL isn't an amp. you will need an externals 2ch speaker amp to feed it. While the Pro ican is capable of feeding it for stax purposse, it does an average job, and leaves lot to be desired. Pro iCan running Susvara itself is slightly above avg, but also leaves lot...

heh thx for the shoutout. I actually have a premium set of JW variant from early 1950's of the WE396a that I guarantee works with iDSD/iCAN PRO as I had them briefly in my own setup before selling the unit. Anyone interested can ping me.

iFi audio Pro iDSD (Official) - NEW Firmware - MQA and more.

Havent been on the forum lately, but I've swapped tubes on idsd pro and ican pro for a long time now. I've swapped in 6n3p-dr, JW 2c51, GE 5670 3 mica, and much more. The only time where I ran into red light is when theres a slight gap between the tube pins and the socket. When putting tubes...

question regarding using the XLR 4 pin input. Looking at the internal circuity it does seem the XLR input has better traces, vs. a modular board for the speaker cable input, so my question is, can i simply use a cable like this output from speaker amp to the iesl balanced in? Any concerns?

iFi Audio Pro iDSD discussion thread

Well, you are sort of describing them both combined. The difference between the 2 tubes is the western electrics are considered the warmest/fullest sounding of these type of tubes. The GE JG5670 triple mica has more bass impact and slightly more airy up top.

The other thing that is important to state is, the upstream source before the AMP. You can have a perfectly neutral amp, and have the sound signature come from the DAC instead. AMP is only one piece of the puzzle as all the discussion here is on Amps, i feel its good to point that out.

iFi Audio Pro iESL - The Official Thread

That's the beauty of it, and I've tested it both with 009, susvara, and he6se. If the planars hooked directly to the NAD there would be a lot of background noise and overall distortion. But through iesl which I assume the vishay resistors are doing their jobs, had made it fully black...

iFi Audio Pro iESL - The Official Thread

nope, because i listen at low gain from the amp, which is ~150w. Using iDSD Pro as the Dac+preamp, for 009, normal listening levels are at around 9-11o'clock depending on the music.
