    LZ-A4 Impressions and Discussion Thread

The LZ A2 is a great earphone-bass is on par with the LZ A4 'Red' Backs and sounding warmer due to a bit more 'spill' into the bass area, mids are good but not as good as the A4, highs are very well done-plenty of clarity and resolution. It's still a great iem. I do think the A4 nudges it out a...

    LZ-A4 Impressions and Discussion Thread

Your right, though the A4 is definately a step up, more accurate-clearer and more revealing, I find it to be more an improvement and refinement of the A2. This shouldn't mean to detract from the A4, which I really do find superb-but should speak of how good the A2 was/is in it's own right. YMMV...

    LZ-A4 Impressions and Discussion Thread

I'm a bit afraid of leaving the back off also and it did seem reduce the balance on the low end. After trying the black/red backs and green fronts, I'm back to black back/red front. The green front is just too mid forward for my preference. I do like the treble range on the greens though. YMMV...

    LZ-A4 Impressions and Discussion Thread

I've found the same thing after trying the green fronts-really like vocals and most instruments gaining flesh and body though with some material i find the mids a bit too forward. Reducing the volume does alleviate this of course but would like an intermediate filter with slightly reduced mids...

    LZ-A4 Impressions and Discussion Thread

I didn't notice too much in regards to tonality problems though the A2 sounds a bit warmer and has a sweet top end. The A4 is cooler-more evenly balanced and sounds somewhat more revealing. I think the A2 is a little V-shaped but the A4-not so much. The A4 bass does not intrude into the mids and...

    LZ-A4 Impressions and Discussion Thread

They'll work great for your IEM monitors. I've been using the LZ A2 for this duty awhile-no problems. I think the A4 will hold up better as I feel the build is more robust. I've not had any problems with the A2 but they don't have detachable connectors so I'm careful with them. Isolation will be...

I second that emotion. Switched from the Red Back/Red Front to the Black Back/Red Front and find the bass end a little bit better in balance in this format-The Red backs were just a bit too elevated on much material-though with great punch and articulation. My feelings exactly with the blue and...

    LZ-A4 Impressions and Discussion Thread

Still enjoying the LZ-A4's very much. Have changed to Red backs and Red fronts-smooth mids, great bass and still good highs. Really prefer the midrange with this combo for me. I am having a problem trying to get many of the different ear tip sizes on the nozzles though. Maybe just me..

    LZ-A4 Impressions and Discussion Thread

The A4 has some great bass at levels I think most people will find-just right. Some few will find the bass end too much but the great thing is adjustments can be made for different preferences. I know it's hard to judge when we all hear a little differently. I just want a great IEM that does...

LOL ...I'd have to give you the Star thumbs up Peter-your review prompted my 'jump off the cliff' on these! Very well done-thanks.

    Beyerdynamic DT 150: Bloody Brilliant!

Very good write up and synopsis for this phone. I do differ with your view regarding the build quality though.  While I wouldn't call them bullet proof, I find their build decently robust/ simple, and like the Sennheiser HD6xx series, nearly every part and component can be ordered and replaced...

    Beyerdynamic DT 150: Bloody Brilliant!

I presently have the DT150 and DT190. They sound the same to me, as mentioned, they are supposed to be the same headphone except the addition of a microphone on the DT190. This microphone addition also changes the cable and headphone socket as there's an additional pin on the DT190...

    Closed cans upgrade

You might look into the Beyerdynamic DT150's.  Search for the specific thread on these here on Head-Fi, buy from Amazon or wherever you can return in case you don't like what you hear.     Merry Christmas !

    Beyerdynamic DT 150: Bloody Brilliant!

...This cracked me up JD...Yup, I have two DT150's and there seems to be a slight increase in clarity and treble response with the modded pair, though subtle.  I do prefer the modded one compared to the stock unit- though I am happy to wear them as well...but..given a choice..

    Beyerdynamic DT 150: Bloody Brilliant!

Yeah, you have to be careful with a knife - when I was removing the cloth around the driver I noticed the driver edge is very close to the front near the cone edge -the driver is maybe 1.5"(inches) in diameter. I'd work from the middle out to the edge by slightly lifting the material and cut...

    Beyerdynamic DT 150: Bloody Brilliant!

I'm a bit late to the party but have found these quite....excellent..... with no major deficiencies-love the bass, mid, and high frequency balance-warm but with plenty of articulation-very natural and just sounds 'right'. Better as my modded DT190's came with the cloth-like material covering the...

    Philips Fidelio X2?!

I'm not sure on this. You know we all hear a little differently-have different preferences, and I think you'd be best to check out the 'house sound' first and see if this fits with your preferences. I hear you on the 'blind regrets'-best to get a good deal on a used (amazon has some great...

    Philips Fidelio X2?!

Maybe a litle more neutral, but I think you'd still be pretty impressed with the bass quantity and quality. Coming from the X1, I didn't find too much difference in the bass quantity and maybe slightly more bass definition. I think I'd prefer the treble tuning of the X1's as I do find the X2's...

    Philips Fidelio X2?!

Yeah, mids are great.  I think I'm more sensitive to the dip in the 5-7k range that's showing up on the innerfidelity tests for the X2. It seems I've had the same feelings/observations regarding the Sennheiser HD650's.  The charts have a somewhat similar reduction in response in this area. I'm...

    Philips Fidelio X2?!

Actually, the 3k range has to be handled pretty carefully as this is the frequency we-as humans-are most sensitive too. Too little and we couldn't differentiate some sounds-speech being of the utmost importance- and too much is like poking a sharp stick in our ears. Many headphones and speakers...

    Philips Fidelio X2?!

I'm hearing the bit of too laid back in the upper mids also. It's not as apparent on all material but definitely not as clear as the Beyerdynamic Dt150's.  Love the bass and presentation/sound field openess as on the X1. Treble can be a bit too splashy on some material for mel. Not sure if I...

    The Beyerdynamic DT250 Thread

As another poster mentioned you might not want to use the screw to secure the cable to the phone. I've read that studios, using the various Beyer phones, remove the screw in case of someone pulling/stepping/rolling over the cable. Instead of damaging the plug/cable if the screw is in, it just...

    Philips Fidelio X2?!

Nice job Philips for responding to your customer base and correcting a few issues with this great product line. I've read a few posts regarding the headphone jack as a weak link in the build of these phones with a few owners rendering their phones inoperative due to breaking this jack area. ...

    [New] Philips Fidelio X1

Great pics and I seriously like those Beyer velours. I'm still a bit unclear on this: "You have to put something thin and strong between and then just bend/turn that and it will pop loose" Where on the earpad do you put something between? This is the problem I had-wasn't sure where I needed to...
