    The Official Sennheiser IE800S thread!

+1 I had the same initial experience with mine. Demo sample sounded great in a shop but the new pair sounded exactly as you described. Put them somewhere and let them sound for a couple of days on above average volume. Play something meaty, like a black/death metal album so all frequencies are...

    Beyerdynamic DT 150: Bloody Brilliant!

Fair question. To answer it, I must dwell on my personal approach to identifying the sound. The very first thing I notice while auditioning is not down to earth pragmatic parameters like lows, mids, treble etc. For the most part I don't care about them with the exception I don't like warm sound...

    Beyerdynamic DT 150: Bloody Brilliant!

I'm afraid my opinion will counterbalance yours. I had the opposite experience pairing them with Chord Mojo in the distant past and I didn't like the sound at all.... After all, I think I wasn't happy with Chord Mojo sound signature altogether in the first place. I know a lot of people like it...

    Beyerdynamic DT 150: Bloody Brilliant!

Here we go (in mm): However I would strongly recommend AGAINST changing stock pads if you care about the sound quality of these wonderful headphones. Been there, heard there.

    The Official Sennheiser IE800S thread!

Today, I'd like to express my utmost disappointment with Sennheiser IE800s quality control. As I already have and have been using IE800 for over a year I thought it would be a no brainer to upgrade and get a fresh pair of IE800S to couple with my newly purchased AK SP1000M only to find out that...

If anyone have been wondering about new Burson V5i opamps, I tested them in my iBasso PB2:     I also did a little review of them which is available at http://www.head-fi.org/products/burson-audio-supreme-sound-opamp-v5i/reviews/16822

Review by 'privilege15' on item 'Burson Audio Supreme Sound Opamp V5i'

Intro   I still remember that day when I received Burson V5i Dual Opamps in my mailbox.     It was 3 days prior to passing my 8 hour long engineering lab exam of my life to finally get certified under the CCIE program. Before passing the exam I could hardly do anything else but to sit in...

iBasso PB-2 Pelican fully balanced portable, DB-2 Dac . . HiFlight recommended op amps page 16. .

I'm running with MUSES01 opamps and LT1028ACN8 buffers with 8-pin DIP heatsinks because the buffers become pretty hot.   I read on some other DIY forum for hi-fi/hi-end electronics that LT1028ACN8 go really well with MUSES01. That's how I tried this combination which eventually appeared to...

It’s been quite some time since I retired from searching for the right sound that would soothe my ears after spending thousands of dollars on various buys and tries. Since I found the right one I rarely pay visit to head-fi, only to scan through interesting updates on the market. Non...

Fresh From The Oven: iBasso P5 "Falcon"

It is a DIY amplifier. It will sound as good as you make it. If you mean how good it is in stock, I yet to find out. It's still in transit.

New iBasso Portable Amp/DAC: iBasso D14 "Bushmaster"

    1. I have Win8.1. Just dowload the driver from iBasso website and D14 will be recognized as a soundcard. 2. Set gain to low as HiFlight has said. 3. It's not broken. It's a turn on/off switch combined with volume control and you don't need to take your IEMs out every time you turn on/off the...

Will Fiio X7 have a dedicated single purpose coaxial socket?

Fresh From The Oven: iBasso P5 "Falcon"

As for the SQ. It is a custom amplifier and it will sound as good as you manage to configure it to sound by finding perfect opamp/buffer match for yourself. Even in stock configuration it will outperform DX90 alone.   Custom configuration is the beauty of this amp and a very good investment...

    Beyerdynamic DT 150: Bloody Brilliant!

From time to time every brand has problems with their headphones, be it Beyerdynamic, Sennheiser, Audeze, HiFiMAN, etc. If turning each of them down every time something goes wrong eventually there will be none left. Every single  one of them has warranty for their products. Contact them and...

The FiiO X3 2nd gen (ex X3K, X3II) Thread : 192K/24B, CS4398,Native DSD, USB DAC with LO and inline remote

Thanks. That will give me some experience not to buy DAPs with combined ports for my personal use. Luckily it was a gift for my wife who does not care about it anyway :) She is happy with the sound it produces. She even declined every portable amp suggested by me. Says it's good by itself.

The FiiO X3 2nd gen (ex X3K, X3II) Thread : 192K/24B, CS4398,Native DSD, USB DAC with LO and inline remote

I corrected my original message. The issue is - I don't want to go stacking cables. I like everything neat and organized.   Another issue. I might loose the original cable but I don't want to be bound to Fiio as cable supplier.

The FiiO X3 2nd gen (ex X3K, X3II) Thread : 192K/24B, CS4398,Native DSD, USB DAC with LO and inline remote

I wanted to ask X3 2nd gen community. Why is it so picky about coaxial cable? Why does my Fiio X5 coaxial output works absolutely with any cable but my X3 2nd gen works only with the special adaptor cable supplied? Is it because it is Aux/Coax combined?   Actually to find that out I had to...
