    Android: Neutron Music Player

Thanks for this. Rewind Track % isn't actually that self explanatory to be fair. It could just as easily mean how far back it actually rewinds.....

High power portable dac/amp with balanced output to drive custom Dt 1770 pro's

So this is basically a request for suggestions on a portable amp/dac combo that will give me a bit more juice through my Beyers. Im currently using a Fiio Q5, which i think is fantastic, and a real steal for the money. But i can't help but feel that the 1770's would benefit from a bit more...

    2.5mm balanced jack

For IEM'S, there's lots of places you can get inexpensive, good quality 2.5mm terminated cables. Try Aliexpress, Amazon, Penon Audio, Linsoul, to name but a few. As for your Sundaras, you'll probably need something custom made. Try Oidio Sound or Custom Cans. They've both been fabulous with me...

FiiO Q1MKII- Native DSD Support, XMOS USB DAC chip, DAC AK4452, 20 hours

They definitely do very good cables for Android use. However, i haven't seen a lightning variant, but then again, i haven't looked. But Penon Audio definitely do a good range of usb cables

USB Audio Player PRO (UAPP): 24- and 32-bit playback, ubiquitous USB audio support for Android

Exactly. Found these 2 work very well with a portable set-up, are good quality and are nice and compact:

USB Audio Player PRO (UAPP): 24- and 32-bit playback, ubiquitous USB audio support for Android

+1 for Onkyo HF. Very slick and nice interface and as competent as the others we have mentioned. If i didn't EQ, It would probably be a toss up between this and UAPP. But it does have a very quirky and not very intuitive eq, so it loses half a star for me. For me the fact that you can't look...

USB Audio Player PRO (UAPP): 24- and 32-bit playback, ubiquitous USB audio support for Android

Ha-Ha, i apologise. It was late last night... Lol. But you're right. If we're talking phones only, then im sure the LG V series have very good built-in dacs, but using apps like UAPP, Neutron, etc with external dac/amps, the whole point is for the software to bypass any possible OS limitations...

    2.5mm balanced jack

Of course, you're right, my mistake. It was late when i replied!! . If im not mistaken, isn't it the same 3 pin mini xlr as my 1770's would of had as standard? In which case, you're right, you'd need them converted to something like a 4-pin mini xlr, and then look at a company like Oidio Sound...

    Customer service done right!

Just wanna say how impressed i am with Custom Cans customer service. I contacted them about my cable, as being the clutz i can be, i managed to knock my player onto the carpet, and in turn, broke the 2.5mm termination. So i asked if i could return it for repair. They replied promptly, said that...

What is the amp you have attached to the FiiO? Really nice set up btw. Looking at some Fostex for a possible future purchase.

Best Smartphone for audiophile Part II (Updated: Jan 2020)

Ok, so for no reason other than to help myself decide, I've spent a couple of hours A>B'ing between Neutron and UAPP. I was pleasantly surprised and pleased to discover that UAPP now has a better 10 band PEQ. So i took some tracks that i know intimately, copied my own favourite Neutron EQ preset...

Definitely the Sony. Although I'd recommend trying some other music players mentioned if the best sound is your ultimate goal. I do miss Poweramp's customization though...

Best Smartphone for audiophile Part II (Updated: Jan 2020)

Fair enough. But most headphones. Certainly those that you would use portably. It's as powerful as pretty much any other portable amp. And saying it's too bulky is a matter of opinion. It's no more bulky than a Mojo, and less so than an Ifi Black Label or Creative E5..

Best Smartphone for audiophile Part II (Updated: Jan 2020)

I did just look at this little beast. The specs are indeed impressive and it's actually pretty potent. (same power as the AM3A module!) I'd definitely consider it if i didn't already have a Q5. But I'd also consider the XDUOO xd-05 plus. That thing will power ANY headphone, and is very...

+1 for the vanilla Q5 too. The Q5s added better BT codecs, but otherwise is essentially the same. And with either you have the option of swapping out the amp module. I have the AM3A driving my 250 ohm dt 1770 pro's effortlessly off of the balanced connection, at low gain, so plenty of headroom...

Best Smartphone for audiophile Part II (Updated: Jan 2020)

I can't really compare listening to UAPP & Neutron back to back on a smartphone solely, as i use a dac/amplifier piggy backed to a phone, but i do know with this option ticked in Neutron : The sound through the FiiO Q5 is no different to UAPP. I think it's going to come down to your own personal...

Best Smartphone for audiophile Part II (Updated: Jan 2020)

Isn't it weird how we all hear things differently? I've tried all 3 major "serious" music players. Started with Poweramp, had it for years. Tried Neutron, and it sounded like a blanket had been lifted off the sound. Tried UAPP, and i agree, it's UI is miles better than Neutron, but with all eq...

Beyerdynamic DT-1770: Product Info, Discussion and Impressions

Just want to share pictures of my new dt 1770 pro's. @jfunk and his team have done a sublime job on them. Not just the cable, which looks even better in flesh, but also the balanced conversion (the 4-pin mini xlr looks oem), the mass loading and damping kit (helps with stage and bass detail) ...

Beyerdynamic DT-1770: Product Info, Discussion and Impressions

Now you got me veering towards these again! Great review. Was skewing towards the 1990 recently, but i need to find out just how much leakage they produce, as I'll have my better half sat next to me when im listening often. Saw the 1770's for £339 on Amazon recently. That is an excellent price tbh.
