Favorite musician/band/group of all time...post here.

So its been a while since I posted my list. Interesting to see how it may have changed. Right now it would go something like. Swans This Heat Radiohead Tom Waits Can Also I have been playing and listening to a lot of piano music recently. Frederic Chopin Sergei Prokofiev Alexandr...

what kind of headphones is thom yorke using here?

Those look a bit bling for mr. Yorke, but I guess it is a DJ set. I think when performing he generally wears those in ear monitors with the wires that stick out and make him look (more) like a cat/elf. Has anyone got any idea what brand of monitors Radiohead use?

    Calling Sennheiser reps...

Thanks man, you make a good point. Come monday I will bump this thread back to the top and keep it on the first page all week

    How much should I bid...

Some nutters have bid them up to £120 ($185). I hate the idea of buying new Senns. I already have a (broken) pair, I doubt I will like the new ones any more than the old ones, if they are any different I will like them less. I resent having to spend a load of money to replace something I already...

    How much should I bid...

Chasing a 5 year old (decent-ish condition) pair of HD650s which have light use (around 800 hrs aprtly.) I like the sound sig of these oldies. But how much is a pair this old actually worth? With 1hr left they seem awfully pricey for their age.   Thanks

Proof of burn in? Or differences between old/new HD650s? Or both?

hehe... I knew this would be a bit controversial Thanks for the replies people. I am also leaning towards the different driver hypothesis. I am going to bid for a pair of 5 year old HD650s on Ebay this week. If the drivers are good I will clip both of them into my nice new headband (that I...

Proof of burn in? Or differences between old/new HD650s? Or both?

My thread about my wonky HD650s (1 new, 1 old driver) died. Seems most of you guys arn't that big on helping noobs so here is something that might actually be of interest to you.   A couple of hours ago I cranked up Sinegen to try a sweep of frequencies on my HD650s, and guess what? Tracking...

Got my HD800, love it. Don't want to sell HD650??

I can't add much to this thread, having never heard the HD800s. That said I too love the HD650s and their oh-so-musical presentation. I think sometimes striving for technical proficiency leads people to forget what this is actually all about, e.g. the musicality. Maybe the HD650s arn't the most...

I now have HD650s with 1 old and 1 new driver

I dont really understand this whole driver matching thing... but I'm guessing that it is the most likely cause of what I am hearing right now. Would anybody be able to explain to me how two drivers can either "work" or "not work" together, and what the practical implications are for me right...

Thanks for the replies :)  Do you know who it was that ended up in the situation I am in? I would love to talk to them

I now have HD650s with 1 old and 1 new driver

I see what you mean... If I were to come to a conclusion from that thread it would have to be that the new ones are bassier but more bass lean; have more treble, but less treble; are darker and brighter and less veiled (but with more veil)   I guess this is a descision I will have to make...

I now have HD650s with 1 old and 1 new driver

Sometimes people find it hard to move on from what they know, right?... This is scary for me because these are the only high end headphones I have ever owned. So while my head is being logical and reminding me that there are loads of other headphones I may get on with even better, my heart is...

I now have HD650s with 1 old and 1 new driver

Thanks for the reply, I am starting to really wish I had done that. For all their quirks I really loved the sound of my 'phones the way they were. Is it likely that a person who loved the HD650s for their warmth and musicality could find newer HD650s a bit cold and clinical sounding, or do...

I now have HD650s with 1 old and 1 new driver

So the left driver on my 4-5 yr old HD650s died, and to my bemusement they came back from Senn's UK repair centre with a new type driver in the left can. This is despite me raising my concern that they would sound unbalanced. (Which may of course mean that my concern was unfounded) Anyhow...

    HD650s broke

Thankyou so much leqin :) I love the sound of these cans and would hate for it to change (especially as they are my only phones) And if the talk about old/new senns is true then they would be harder to replace then just getting a new pair.

    HD650s broke

The left channel just cut out on my 4 year old HD650s. Sennheiser says their flat rate for repairs is £40, which is fantastic considering buying a new capsule will cost £50. I'm very nervous about the idea of sending these off. For one thing I keep hearing people here talking about "old" and...

    Does anyone else find...

...that their enjoyment of listening to music is severely diminished by dodgy hearing?   Obviously everything is relative, occasionally my hearing is fine and listening to music is very enjoyable. The rest of the time every tube in my head seems to be full of mucus and my music sounds like...

    Mini headphone jack connection issues

I had a really odd problem like this myself. A few months ago I found that the sound of my amp cut out as the Cardas interconnect was moved. I assumed that the interconnect was broken and was about to email Headroom about it. However the problem went away on its own and has never returned (so...

    Can you wear out HD650?

Obviously everything wears out eventually, so I don't need anyone to point that out to me :)   I listen to my HD650's, at a conservative estimate, for an average of about 10 hours every week. I have owned them for almost 4 years now (purchased them August 2006).   Am I Iikely to be...
