SIVGA PHOENIX OPEN BACK WOOD DYNAMIC

I have Grado RS1i and have owned the 80s. Grado offers the most open of open-backed sound. Bass can be described as tight, punchy, detailed but not weighty, not sonorous. If you thrill to the detail of Christian McBride walking up and down the bass, Gradis are a great listen. But if you want...

Rank the Headphones that You Own.

Fascinating change in rank for the Senn HD 800s. Also ZMF recently on my radar, so interesting to see how stable their Classics are at the top 2.

Really helpful, Anaz thank you! I haven’t heard the 560, will check it out.

Review by 'PDC3' on item 'AKG K275 Over-ear'

The AKG K275 will cheerfully perform in more use-cases than AKG will suggest. Early comments on this AKG K275 were largely welcoming to this 50 mm dynamic closed-back headphone, featuring folding hinges for relative portability given the big circumaural pads. As a fan of my AKG Q701 that uses...

    AKG K275 Over-ear

"When you’re serious about editing and mixing your music, you’re looking for more than thumping bass in your headphones, you need nuanced low frequencies. The K275 offer 50mm transducers—the largest in their class—to create greater low-frequency extension and detailed bass reproduction. This...

    New AKG headphones K175, K245, K275

I’ve got the k275 on pre order from Sweetwater. They have no firm date from AKG/HARMON/SAMSUNG as to when they’ll arrive. I’m giving them till February.

OPPO HA-2 Portable Headphone Amplifier/DAC Discussion Thread

Audiofiend1, Computer’s USB port to mini USB input on the HA2. The HA2 lineout via 3.5 mm to RCA L/R cable to your Mjolnir. The USB powers the HA2, so when you want to go portable the HA2 battery will be powered up. I THINK my Modi Optical desktop dac provides a bit broader soundstage but I’ve...

Oppo PM-3 : The Portable Planar - Impressions

Bcaulf17, Haven’t heard the H6 but would place my PM3 above the Meze 99 and P7. Consequently, since I had the PM3 earcups and band refreshed at factory, you wouldn’t pry them out of my hands for less than $600 plus shipping. Instead, I’d suggest you check out MrSpeakers Aeon, budget permitting...

Oppo PM-3 : The Portable Planar - Impressions

Jimmy G, You are right, I’m not a fan of the B&W 5, for exactly your description of bass. Kinda cool that we understand something of each other’s preferences all this distance apart. I very much like the HA2 with the PM3 but find it hard to describe why because the sound signature does not...

Oppo PM-3 : The Portable Planar - Impressions

I have the AKG Q701 and definitely prefer the sound of the Oppo PM3. The bass has more impact and the treble has clarity without being fatiguing. The AKG semi open design does give a sense of room space whereas the PM3 are more intimate. For cool jazz or chamber music I will turn to the AKG but...

OPPO HA-2 Portable Headphone Amplifier/DAC Discussion Thread

Yup, my bad. Sorry, had read about MP3 patents expiring, not FLAC. But iOS support for FLAC via v11 has been reported, but not confirmed that MUSIC APP will allow playback.

Revised my opinion regarding  Senn Momentum On-ear pairing.  HA-2 provides a bit more robustness to the sound.  However, not the "from heaven" pairing that it is with the Oppo PM-3 (on either Hi or Low settings).

+1 And the EQ effect can be necessary only for specific tracks or albums. Or, let me be honest, my mood.

Oppo PM-3 : The Portable Planar - Impressions

I'm also pleased with the VModa boom mic as a when-needed accessory to my PM3. I don't dislike the audio quality of the stock cables. A boom mic provides better isolation from environmental noise. No controls but mute on the boom mic, though.

Oppo PM-3 : The Portable Planar - Impressions

Thanks for your input. I've been happy with the SB e5 partly because it's EQ can compensate the roll off treble on my NAD Viso. I want a planar and the PM-3 are ticking my boxes. I'm expecting the PM-3 will replace the NAD as the complement I need to my bright desk-bound Grados.

    Beyerdynamic DT880 vs AKG Q701?

For the sake of others who may be mulling this equipment, I'll +1 that my AKG Q701 has paired well with Schiit Vali (via Sherbourn Pre-Pro); Magni 2 (via Pure i20 DAC from iPhone/Airplay) and, when I want a change from the bright punchy sound of my Grado RS-1, with the Asgard 2 from Modi optical...

TRINITY AUDIO ENGINEERING prepare to launch new VARIO switchable open and closed back full size headphone

    AKG K702 Headband mods

Just prior to seeing this thread, I brought this problem to my sewing-skilled wife.  I described an elaborate fix, not unlike some suggested here, for my Q701.  Wise wife said, "I'm going to buy you one of those velcro wraps for the shoulder harness of our seat belts.  They have padding, come in...

V-MODA CROSSFADE WIRELESS: Exclusive Preview, Videos, Discussion/Feedback, Reviews, Pics, etc.

Blue Link, I have no specific knowledge but I'd worry that the wireless version contains antennae and other electronics that are required. This seems a likely reason for foregoing CliqFold. Try asking Cus Service at V MODA before you buy.
