    The discovery thread!

I find that the included tweezer has enough grip to just pull out the filters/dampers without need to push it out from the inside actually. :) uploaded a short video here. https://imgur.com/xQoXvmD

    The discovery thread!

after taking a closer look with a fresher mind this morning, I realised it was just a small little clip like @mndless mentioned. So i just gently lifted it using a needle and pulled the cable out, took almost no time at all. Since swapping drivers and cables didn't work figured it was probably...

    The discovery thread!

yeah. I used that to test as well after I tried to listen to the proto for the first time. it sounds like it's coming from inside my head (or behind me). Using that test it sound normal when the video is playing the out of phase, and weird when it's playing in phase. lol. have a set of red...

Blon in ear monitors impressions thread

ah I see! Thanks for the info and correction! Man, I did a quick search and found where I read that it was reversible, and seems like it's not the case. Should have researched more on my part. For me I had no regrets flashing my JM10 despite knowing it's for sure not reversible since the...

    Earbuds Round-Up

so a bit of an update to this post. I flashed the JM10 with Sonata BHD V2.0 firmware so instead of doing their "dynamic self-adaptive" output, it now seems to just do fixed max output. I'm not sure exactly how many levels/steps or how fine adjustments it was originally able to do, but after...

CCA in ear monitors Impressions Thread

Yeah, it was an amazing performance, so I listen to it quite often when trying new gear! maybe it's just my ears then, I still think that change sounds a bit bigger than what I'm used to hearing. Another area i noticed is at starting around 4:07 where it's the reverse in the hand off. In this...

CCA in ear monitors Impressions Thread

Spent more time with it, so here are some more quick thoughts on it. Non audio stuff: Fit is actually great for me with the included tips. It uses a narrower nozzle which is more like TWS earbuds + shallower ear tips. Basically like the KZ Z1 TWS. so it doesn't penetrate that deeply, and...

    Earbuds Round-Up

nice, glad you're liking them! Earbuds are kinda great for those live recorded albums like jazz at the pawn shop.

https://www.head-fi.org/showcase/smabat-m2s-pro.25238/reviews you could try asking over here? the review by cappuchino mentioned this... and if i'm not wrong, that 40 Ohms driver is pretty much the one used in the M2s Pro?

    Moondrop in-ear monitors Impressions Thread

I think the Tanya probably, but definitely not the quarks. The mh755 seems to reach a bit deeper but overall bass quantity is probably higher on the tanya for me since it has more mid bass, giving that whole region more presence. Also the MH755 can be a bit shouty too, so if you're like me and...

    Moondrop in-ear monitors Impressions Thread

The quarks are really tiny. Spent a tiny bit more time comparing these, and personally still prefer the tanya and mh755 over the quarks. Those seems to have slightly better technicalities than the quarks to my ears. Tuning wise tanya is more my cup of tea, but even compared to mh755, i find the...

order from shopee just arrived. basic and simple packaging with not much going on, and cable is.... acceptable i guess. it's a bit wiggly now, but maybe it will soften a bit over time. But even then, the grey cable with that big round splitter looks just okay to me. Haven't spent too much time...

    Earbuds Round-Up

that's quite normal actually. Shopee is usually cheaper than Aliexpress almost all the time which is why I mostly try to wait till items are available there before buying. Their shipping is usually more consistent and faster too based on my own experience with both platforms. I got my LBBS from...

    Earbuds Round-Up

The last of the ~7 SGD buds I bought from shopee, JieTu DIY EMX500 Bro. Just gonna call them the "Bros". lol. Anyway, the Bros are pretty warm sounding. More mid bass focused than sub bass, and has quite a bit of lower mids too. Bass has some texture and is decently tight, but sometimes can...

    Earbuds Round-Up

Tingo TC200 from JieTu shopee store arrived earlier today. Warmish sound signature with some upper mids boost? Slight U shape? More mid bass than sub bass, and it's a little on the boomy side, though not the worse I've heard. Lower mids are not the cleanest sounding thanks to the mid bass, but...

    Earbuds Round-Up

For me I tried full foam + donut foam, and a silicone ring + foam (didn't work well at all for me). But ended up still preferring how they sound with just full foam. In my case I think my ears are just on the smaller side, so the shell fits me well enough with just that. With MX500 shell they...

    Earbuds Round-Up

Thanks! I'll probably be using them a ton anyway. For me I think because the detail retrieval is good, i'm happy with the upper mids even as they are now actually. So instead of finding them shouty, I think they just sound really clear. With the few reports here about QC issues, I'm just...

    Earbuds Round-Up

Yeah, same here. I've bought from them from a number of times already, so I doubt that to be the case too. It's probably way too much effort too for little gains. Which leaves it down to QC or just my personal preference I guess since I tend to prioritise mids more than anything else. no idea...

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best

the apple USB-C dongle doesn't really work well with android phones. their output are severely limited on android phones. They were made for iPads after all when Apple starting using USB-C for iPads. They work great on those devices and Macs though. IIRC OP7T support passive adapters as well...

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best

I did try the CX31993 and JM04 Pro with android phones too (pixel 3 and HTC u12+) with poweramp player (i know not the best option probably in terms of output, but that's the app i prefer because of the UI) and still found the apple dongle a bit nicer. Though I think they sound a bit better on...

    Earbuds Round-Up

I might try that eventually and experiment more with foams later but i'm quite fine with the amount of bass even with one full foams. As usual, earbuds are so enjoyable for me with these live performance. :L3000:

    Earbuds Round-Up

I'm using the included white coloured full foams, but they do seem pretty thin though. They sound a tad brighter compared to the Nicehck ME80 at least based on a quick comparison, though probably still more neutral than bright I think.
