Yep. Ordered the Kato, looking to sell off a few IEMs now.

Yeah, if that graph is to be believed, it looks like the Kato has a more "honest" treble response compared to the Starfield. Even if it's rolled off, it's relatively linear in its response (noting that the 12-14k peak on the Starfield is taller, but the Kato's treble FR probably serves up...

[FiiO FD7/FDX] On August 31, 2021, #FiiO 2021 Autumn New Earphones Launch Event# will straightly get to you.

My question to those who've heard the FD7: How's the mid-bass? A lot of the beryllium drivers I've heard create a noticeable amount of pressure there. I would imagine that taming that would increase bass and mid clarity, while still providing a non-fatiguing amount of bass "fun".

iFi audio GO blu - Super small. Super light. Super Sound.

Looks cool. I *just* got the Qudelix 5K, so I'm not gonna buy anything else anytime soon, but I love the design.

If the steel and brass tubes are the same shape, I have to wonder how much of an impact it will have on the sound. That said, I'm still very stoked to see a proper upgrade to the Kxxs. The original Kanas was one of my favorite IEMs until my pair eventually stopped working.

    The discovery thread!

Argh. I can't keep up with the pace of single DD releases. This needs to go in a head-to-head with the FD3 and maybe the YuanLi (just been seeing some hype for that one recently).

    Schiit Audio Bifrost 2

Any chance Schiit would ever make a coax card to replace the USB input? If I was to use this in a living room, having 2 coax inputs would allow me to use it with a streamer and a CD transport at the same time.

    The discovery thread!

BGGAR graphed it for his review. There's a little peak right around 2-3k but otherwise it follows his ideal curve pretty closely, which is encouraging. (His library has some overlap with mine.) Edit: Or, what RikudouGoku posted :D

    The discovery thread!

Ordered the 7Hz Timeless from DROP. My curiosity for planar IEMs is boiling over now. Still trying to not wade into tribrids, even though they seem to be the mainstream tech for refined "hi-fi" IEMs. Betting on a decently tuned planar makes sense for my taste and hearing.

MEZE AUDIO ELITE - The New Isodynamic Hybrid Array Headphone - official thread

I didn't say 1-2k for labor and materials. I said to make, which includes R&D, design, etc. I've made enough things to know that labor and materials are only a part of the total cost to produce. But to be clear, I was responding to the notion that 9k is cheap. A headphone that is almost...

MEZE AUDIO ELITE - The New Isodynamic Hybrid Array Headphone - official thread

I dunno, MSRP should be a reflection of the actual cost to make any given product. So old-fashioned, I know, but a headphone that costs 1-2k to make should not cost 6k to buy. That's ridiculous.

    Empyrean elite

Looking forward to reading/seeing impressions of the EE I hope they don't stick with that unfinished silver look to the magnesium chassis. An actual (darker) finish would be cooler imho, but I'm not necessarily the one they're trying to woo.

Cayin N6ii, Unlimited Possibilities: a fully modularized smart DAP

I'm not a knowledgable EDM fan or anything but I love the way R-2R DACs reproduce analog synth sounds. Any music that uses vintage synths from the 70s, or samples derived from those instruments, tend to benefit from ladder DACS based on what I've heard from my music library.

Meze EMPYREAN - the First Isodynamic Hybrid Array Headphone

It's hard for me to say anything definitive about upgrading without knowing that the Elite brings to the table. But given how much I enjoy the Empyrean, the Elite would have to address all my little nitpicks and quibbles without taking anything away that I already love. And that doesn't seem...

Meze EMPYREAN - the First Isodynamic Hybrid Array Headphone

I feel like Meze and Audeze are closer together in terms of competition, as opposed to Focal or Hifiman, so comparisons to them seem more appropriate. I know summit-fi collectors will probsbly have them all, but most folks don’t tend to get multiple flagships lol, right?

Meze EMPYREAN - the First Isodynamic Hybrid Array Headphone

How is it that so many folks in this thread seem to have insider information on the Elite? Have there been closed-door previews going on for months? I'm just trying to imagine where anyone would've had a chance to try out prototype headphones...

Meze EMPYREAN - the First Isodynamic Hybrid Array Headphone

Yeah, I'm just playing the expectations game with the hype. Depending on how true the Elite is to Meze's house sound, I genuinely might not even be interested in it. Given where I'm at with the hobby, I'm more excited by a fun but transparent closed back planar or IEM that won't consume too much...

If the Mele can reproduce the bass in Motherboard on R.A.M. I'll be damn impressed.

Tripowin x HBB 'Mele' - Impressions Thread

I hope the upper mids/lower treble around 4k really sound good on the Mele. I think that's part of the BL03's secret recipe. Will be trying these out with the Final Type-E tips fer sure. I know none of these entry-level single DD IEMs could be called giant killers, but this is such a cool...

Meze EMPYREAN - the First Isodynamic Hybrid Array Headphone

A slightly heavier, hungrier version of the Empyrean with improved performance would be a huge win. (Per metal571's review) The original is so comfortable and easy to drive that Meze could add some extra magnets to the design and not really lose out on much in that arena, though whether or not...

FiiO FD3/FD3 Pro-DLC Diaphragm Dynamic Driver IEMs

A little too much mid-bass and the treble balance should be less lower, more upper. But it's a single DD. I guess most others step up a hy or tri-brid to get that level of refined tuning.

Apple Music  Now with lossless high-res and spatial audio

As someone who's been pretty skeptical of Apple Music, I'm grateful they kicked the competition fully into lossless audio. I've been slowly bouncing around from service to service to try them out. My experience so far is that Tidal sounds better than Amazon HD. I know Apple's service sounds good...

    The Qudelix-5K thread

Been digging the 5k. The only things I don’t love about it are the buttons and the quiet on/off chime. Otherwise, it’s a nice replacement for the ES100.

FiiO FD3/FD3 Pro-DLC Diaphragm Dynamic Driver IEMs

You might be onto something with source sensitivity. Tbh the FD3 sound GREAT out of the N3Pro tube mode. Fun but detailed and lively with a coherent, spacious stage. Bass is a little boomy due to tuning or resonances, but pretty well controlled when compared to the mids. Might just be a synergy...

FiiO FD3/FD3 Pro-DLC Diaphragm Dynamic Driver IEMs

I really like the Aria. I use them everyday for work. But for enjoyment, I'm looking for something more than just tonal accuracy. The Aria is more like a studio monitor while the FD3 is more like the Meze 99s.
