Geek Pulse: Geek desktop DAC/AMP by Light Harmonics

I've been out of the loop for years now. What happened to Light Harmonic? They seemed to have been a very well respected audio company, and they just completely disappeared. Their website doesn't even exist anymore to download drivers for their old products.

Bose QC30 - QuietControl 30 wireless noise canceling earphones - impressions

I did some A/B testing with the QC30 (store sample pair) and my old QC20 today. Overall, the sound is quite similar, with the following differences: - QC30 is noticeably bassier than the QC20. Bass is quite exaggerated but relatively controlled for the quantity and there is minimal bleed into...

    Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7 Discussion Thread

I think you can argue that the MSR-7 will sound more detailed than the R70x simply by virtue of the fact that it's a closed headphone, so all else being equal, details will sound more obvious compared to an open headphone with similar resolving power. Not to speak of the more analytical sound...

    Introducing the Aurisonics Auris

Nothing seems to be even close to happening with the Auris, so I pre-ordered the Kanoa a.k.a. Peaq Audio. Will do a review as soon as I receive it. They claim that everything is on track for delivery April 2016.

    Smart Bluetooth In Ear Monitors

I just pre-ordered the Kanoa too. My first choice was the Auris, knowing Aurisonics' background with audiophilia, but it doesn't look like it will actually come to fruition, so I bit the bullet on the Kanoa. They claim that everything is on track, and the expected delivery is still April 2016...

What if the frequency range of the amp/dac is smaller than the headphone's?

You can't hear below 20hz or above 20khz anyways, so it doesn't matter.   You would feel a subwoofer playing 16hz even though you can't hear it, but headphones don't make vibrations strong enough for you to feel (and if they did they would blow your eardrums).   Also, asSleep Mode zZ said...

The Beats part is actually great - you get to introduce her to the whole new world of audiophilia, and she'll love you for it! least that's how it's supposed to go, in theory.     Ugh I totally get it... there is one girl I know who I find incredibly attractive, at least...

Bose QC25 review (long flight experience included)

The bass is the best part of the QC25s' sound. It's very powerful and extended without being flabby or excessive, and actually reminds me of the bass on the B&W P7s, which can only be a good thing. The rest of the QC25s' sound isn't nearly so flawless... a bit recessed here and there, a few...

Cosmic Ears - new CIEM company with great prices (including Hybrid designs!)

That's what I assumed too, because that was the naming convention for the 6-driver. But Phil told me this was not the case. The CE4P is the only 4-driver they still have and is the same as the BA4F, not the BA4R. The latter was discontinued completely and doesn't exist anymore.

    Introducing the Aurisonics Auris

If you will be making a lot of calls, an inline mic on a cable would be closer to your mouth which should usually result in better call quality. But aftermarket CIEM cables will cost you. For music listening, something without wires like the Auris would be a lot better because no worry about...

    NEW! Bose QC25 2014

Both the QC15 and QC25 have some background hiss, and even the QC20 to a much lesser extent. But it's not bothersome in situations that actually call for noise cancellation.

    NEW! Bose QC25 2014

For those of you who haven't figured it out, the high/low gain function has been moved to the airline adaptor. As you can see, the first plug is stereo and the second plug is mono. To use just as a low-gain resistor for a normal stereo mini jack, you fold the mono plug out of the way. The...

Music Will Never Be The Same Again!!!

Sounds pretty exciting, but the biggest problem I think will be the availability of music in the format, especially existing recordings. It's unlikely that every album from every artist will be re-released in this new format, especially for those of us who listen primarily to music that isn't...
