    Review: ZERO 24 BIT/192KHz DAC/Headphone Amp/Pre-Amp

As many have said before. It's the best you can do at this price point. Many have stated that if they never heard better (like 5k systems), they'd be perfectly content with the Zero. It is a great little unit with upgradeable potential.

Tianyun Zero DAC - New 2009 Edition

Hey Damson. What kind of music do you typically listen to? Do you have the Zero hooked up to another amp or just straight from the headphone out? Who did you buy the unit from?

    SRH840 impression

I've burned them in for about 120 hours and they are still the same for rock/metal. Not the best for that genre in my opinion. I thought it was just my recordings since they sounded great for jazz r&b and all others.

yeah volume knob does nothing on the zero. I'm assuming the compass is probably the same.

    Review: ZERO 24 BIT/192KHz DAC/Headphone Amp/Pre-Amp

Hm... i'm not 100% sure about the preamp features but you may want to take a look at the Nurforce icon. It goes for ~$200 and is supposed to be decent (Dues ex in this thread below is talking about using it for his rc-10 which are not powered speakers, so i'm not sure if you can use it with...

    Review: ZERO 24 BIT/192KHz DAC/Headphone Amp/Pre-Amp

btw koven...as to the shure srh840, i've used them on my zero dac/amp and it sounds quite nice with jazz. I've also listened to the headphones straight from my marantz avr receiver (which has a decent headphone amp built in) and it sounds nice as well.

    Review: ZERO 24 BIT/192KHz DAC/Headphone Amp/Pre-Amp

I have not tested it that way but i can tell you that i've used it as a preamp to a power amplifier and it works just fine. I'm assuming that the same applies to amp'd speakers. By doing this you bypass the internal headphone amplifier (i'm 99% sure) and sending out a line level signal. In...

Have you broken them in yet? Keep in mind they are closed cans. You're not going to get the same soundstage as an open can (and the guy sitting next to you won't be hearing what you're listening to as well) but these are pretty decent for what it is. I am really enjoying these. I've owned...

    FS Tianyun ZERO 24 BIT/192KHz DAC/Headphone Amp/Pre-Amp Brand New.

Hello guys. I am selling my Tianyun ZERO 24 BIT/192KHz DAC/Headphone Amp/Pre-Amp that I received today. Today? Yeah. I decided after i purchased it that I wanted to go down another route; Specifically, a full blown AV receiver Marantz SR7001. I just opened the beautifully packaged box and...

    Review: ZERO 24 BIT/192KHz DAC/Headphone Amp/Pre-Amp

I personally haven't. I don't have a voltmeter. I'm worried that i received a fake one as well. If you scroll up, you'll see a pic of the 627. Bottom line though is if you are worried, order one as the base unit, and upgrade an opamp yourself. I'm switching out the 627 anyway so... It all...

    Review: ZERO 24 BIT/192KHz DAC/Headphone Amp/Pre-Amp

When trying to order opamp LT1469, there are a ton of them on the website with slightly different numbers and letter configurations. Which one is the correct one?

    Review: ZERO 24 BIT/192KHz DAC/Headphone Amp/Pre-Amp

Has anyone here tried the capacitor snipping suggestion? Is it safe to do and how much improvement do you actually hear? I'm considering getting the moon for the DAC section but need more feedback about it first. thanks

Best type of headphone for classical music

I'm sure this topic has been discussed many a times but i'll ask it again. What type of headphones are best paired with classical music? Open or closed or IEM? What quality of these cans make them pair well with classical. Which are your favorites for roughly ~200-250

    Review: ZERO 24 BIT/192KHz DAC/Headphone Amp/Pre-Amp

opa627 in DAC + 2x LT1884CN8 = pure bliss Open and airy. Highly enjoyable and very smooth. Improved the bass response quite a bit. BTW i ordered the unit from wsz0304. It's the real deal and he was extremely helpful. Very accommodating. Highly recommended!

Has anyone compared these to the Senn 580s (or any of the senn's for that matter)? I'm thinking of selling off the 580s and giving these a go. I'm not the type to keep too many cans laying around so if this one is coming in, i have to let one go. I enjoy the rich sound of the Senn but willing to...

    Should I get a CX300 II or RE2?

Buy the RE2s with the Fiio amp. Amazing deal at this price point. The amp provides the extra bass that is lacking (some would say) with the headphones itself. With the amp, the bass is tight, not muddy, precise. Very clear and smooth at this level.

Did I cover everything for a noob?

Nope you are all set. I haven't heard the EF2 but from the numerous posts and reviews, it's a winner. Realize this...you are getting tons for your money because it's from Asia. The only weakness that I found with this unit is the fact that it has limited inputs. It only has analog CD input...

However....to put things into perspective. Headphone gear is far far far cheaper than home audio setups. Take a look at the AudiogoN ForSale: Edge NL Reference on sale now for a low price of 60k for an amplifier. Retail is 148k. I think they throw in a T-shirt too. Someone jump on this before...
