    The Stax Thread III

Before you go bedondered pulling things apart, wait until you can test with another earspeaker and/or energizer. That is the easiest way to determine where the problem lies. Just my R0.02... My guess is definitely the earspeaker, based on my experience. What to do about it if so is another...

    Resonessence Labs Concero discussion/review thead

I see no need for the iFi device and the Aqvox, good as it is, shouldn't make make an audible difference to the Concero using bus power. Just my opinion though, having tried my own Concero in a few very revealing rigs with and without various add ons. It's a brilliant DAC all on its own. Rather...

My 6 month old SRM-353X, bought brand new (well OK, two hours use) at 40% of retail price, is going nowhere! Classic in the making right there...

Comment by 'capetownwatches' on listing 'Resonessence Labs Invicta Mirus *PRICE DROP*'

Unfortunately the manufacturer has gone out of business and the website no longer exists (in it's previous form anyway). Thus upgrading firmware may pose a challenge... Superb DAC though. GLWS!

Just keep using them. I have not found that my L500 nor 207 benefited audibly from burn in. My 353X however definitely did, opening up and delivering better lows after a couple hundred hours.

The Stax SR-L500 and SR-L700 Impressions Thread

Listening to Stax is a singular experience and different to planars and dynamics, for all the good reasons mentioned above. Personally I love Stax for what they can bring to the party, but I love my dynamics and planars as well. I tend to listen to certain genres on Stax as a special treat...

I don't find the L500 bright at all, at the end of a RL Concero - NFB11.32 source into 353X. What's your source?

The OEM CPC-1 cover is well worth the 20 bucks! Don't even waste your time looking elsewhere. Consider what you paid for your earspeakers...:)

64 Audio Shootout - Nio. Trio. Fourte. Noir

As someone who has no real use case for IEMs (I only need them when the power goes out and I switch to portable sources - in South Africa this is a real problem), I have little to no experience with gear of this caliber. That said, I devoured the entire review, not just because the scribe is a...

    Resonessence Labs Concero discussion/review thead

I have no playback issues at 24 bits/358.2 Kb/s with my original Concero running v.2.7 (Win 10 PC using JRiver MC25) Not that I have many recordings at these resolutions...but nice to know it can do it! That said, I do get an intermittent "ticking" noise from time to time, usually but not...

    Audio-gd A-2 Class A Headphone Amp & Pre

Kingwa still using Windows 7/8 by the looks of it...as did I until pretty recently when I was forced to upgrade. Glad I did, Win 10 Pro is light years better IMO, certainly from an audio perspective.

    Audio GD NFB-11.28 vs R2R 11

I realise that you've been given a hard time on other forums due to the utter obtuseness of many of your posts, therefore you are obviously very sensitive. My comment was merely a statement of fact. I love Kingwa and what he's done for the hobby by making quality gear at affordable prices. Heck...

    Audio-GD NFB-11.32 & NFB-11 (2014) (Delivery & Impression Thread)!!!

The gain switch affects both the headphone AND the line outputs of the NFB11.32 when set to FIXED or VARIABLE. Have you not noticed this on your NFB11.28? Specs state 2.5V fixed out but do not mention gain. I assume low gain must be 1V. To my ears high gain sounds significantly better but 2.5V...

    Audio-GD NFB-11.32 & NFB-11 (2014) (Delivery & Impression Thread)!!!

OK so a quick look at the specs here answered my question and one must assume it is 2.5V at high gain. Still wondering what the low gain number is, I'll shoot Kingwa a mail.

    Audio-GD NFB-11.32 & NFB-11 (2014) (Delivery & Impression Thread)!!!

I can't recall if this has been asked and answered, but when using NFB11.32 as a DAC only (Fixed output) the gain settings are active. Of course system synergies are important here, but generally I find High gain provides the better quality output, assuming it's not too hot for the amp. Is this...
