HeadAmp/DAC > Onboard PC to AVR

Re the Xonar, I'm nervous that the drivers are outdated. Running Windows 10 Pro. That's my concern with internal sound cards essentially.

HeadAmp/DAC > Onboard PC to AVR

Thanks a bunch mate. Informative for sure. I'm tossing up the idea of a Schiit Magni 2 Uber as an amp and hook it via pre out to the Yamaha RCA. Would I still get DDL if I get the Magni + get the Xonar DX? So PC - Xonar - Yamaha - Magni - X2

    Sennheiser IE80's Impressions Thread

I'm actually comparing then to the UE900, which a mate has and the fact I wanted to buy them originally. IE80 any day. UE900 has great detail, but mids are a little too forward for me. Overall bass is too anaemic for me too. IE80 is just more engaging IMO.

    Sennheiser IE80's Impressions Thread

I have a mate that owns the UE900, and I managed to score one of the grey silicone tips which are similar to the JVC tips. The UE tip only require a tiny stretch, but I must say they do sound pretty clear to me. This will definitely suffice until the JVC comes in

    Sennheiser IE80's Impressions Thread

Finally received my IE80.   I have to say, they definitely look more expensive than the IE8. I absolutely love the brushed metal finish, and the cable seems to be even better with a nicer finish.   Speaking of sound, they are receiving brain burn-in right now, so I'm not gonna comment...

I'm waiting for mine to arrive tomorrow woot! I really hope they improve on the IE8, even though I loved them to death.

Ultimate Ears UE 900 Discussion and Impressions Thread

Sounds great. Lastly, can they be worn down like normal buds? As an example, I also owned IE8's, and all I did was disconnect the cable in order to swap out the channels and used right on left etc.

Ultimate Ears UE 900 Discussion and Impressions Thread

OK, cheers.   Can you actually remove the memory wire on them? That clear sleeve that I can see in pics.   I don't particularly like them, and in my previous TF10, I did a recable using the Lune.

    Do you secretly respect Beats?

The Mixr's are the Pro's little brother. I've got them. They look nice, built nice, sound decent. Paid $150 for them. Pretty much spot on for what they're worth. They sound fantastic for Electronic music. The Amperior is when I want to listen to Jazz/Alternative stuff. V-Modas try too hard to...

How do they sound for Drum n Bass / Electronic styles?

Ultimate Ears UE 900 Discussion and Impressions Thread

Nice work. For the price I can get them, I might cop them. I loved the TF10 I'm actually deciding between getting these OR the Sony XBA3-iP. Both I can purchase for the same price. Hmmm decisions..

    Do you secretly respect Beats?

I see dedicated headphone "stalls" in shopping centres now (with demo units), so thankfully a broader choice is available (including bright colour ways... Cringe) Had all the big brands, including the Head-Fi approved Senns, AT's, AKG etc. So another example of the platform that Beats raised...

    Sennheiser Amperior Impressions Thread

Hi Mate! Congrats on the purchase, and glad you like them! And yes, the pads are SO good, way better than my other on ear Beats Mixr. Way more comfy too as the Mixr's clamp down tight, whilst the Amperior has got to be the most comfy on ear style. Oh those ear pads.... I find them really...

    Ultrasone Pro 2900 Thread

Still got my 2900's, and I have to say I am still enjoying the sound very much! Its just a fantastic all-rounder.   Its just perfect for movies, games and its pretty beast for electro/house/dubstep tracks.   No need for upgraditis!

    Ultrasone Pro 2900 Thread

Never tried the Turtle Beaches before, but they run on a common frequency and hear problems of popping and hissing.    The Mixamp 5.8 has nearly zero hiss. Incredible for a wireless system from RX to TX.    They are about the same power wise with my receiver. The Dolby effect definitely...

    Ultrasone Fan Club! (Roll Call)

Certainly a nice effort mate. Bit of a strange colour combination right there though!   You hadn't told us how they sound? Unless I missed it?   Quote:

They probably mean quality, rather than quantity. I like the bass on the 2900 in that it doesn't destroy the midrange frequencies.   Quote:

    Ultrasone Pro 2900 Thread

I've heard the T1 before. At least a good 2-3 hours of listening but enough to form a short opinion.   I'll be brutally honest. If the T1 and 2900 were the same price, I'd still go 2900 for pure overall sound enjoyment. The soundstage and detail of the T1 is obviously miles better, but the...

    Ultrasone Pro 2900 Thread

How are you defining "musical"? In the way you bob your head and get immersed?   As I mentioned before, if the sound can "improve", then I would consider it a bonus. Of course you always hope for improvement from brand new :)

Most things on Head-Fi are taken with a big pinch of salt.   I agree with my opinions, but I take no offence in others dissipating my comments.

    Ultrasone Pro 2900 Thread

I don't think anyone has stated that they don't sound anything like an Ultrasone can. They share a similar trait, but the 2900 has a character that the 900 couldn't touch with a 10ft pole. Quote:

That's a fairly long time for burn in.  IMO, I quite enjoy the sound as it is. Any further increases with sound quality would just be a bonus.
