After the 2.0 firmware, I rebuilt my 5.1 and 7.1 personal PRIRs with the composite builder and the denoise function, I found it made a noticeable difference in how it sounded in a good way. I’ll be curious to hear what you think. I don’t have an Atmos PRIR to compare it to, but it does sound...

The A16 supports both HDR10 and Dolby Vision. I have multiple devices connected to the A16 directly and the A16 is capable of taking either HDR format and correctly sending it to my tv.

Pretty certain mine had a red light when it updated. I literally just plugged it into the HT port waited maybe 5 seconds, and then went into the head tracker menu on the A16 and hit update.

Seems as though my go to method of getting my tv to pass Atmos to the A16 over eARC instead of 5.1 or 7.1 Dolby Digital is no longer working. eARC is notoriously a pain with any device and it being in beta on A16 I’m sure isn’t helping. Back to the drawing board I guess.

Alright. I updated and everything went as smoothly as previous updates. I didn’t have a chance to play around much, but did test eARC as it is the most important feature in this update for my setup. I can say that so for me it works flawlessly. I activated eARC on my tv before selecting it as an...

My plan since I'm still working from home is to install the 2.0 firmware hopefully this morning. Assuming I get the chance to do so I'll report back if there's any issues and how trying out the beta eARC feature goes. Wish me luck lol!

Also looks like they enabled: HDMI Pass-through during Standby HDMI pass-through (audio and video) can now operate during standby. Pass-through mode may be activated in the second page of the HDMI Settings menu (HOME>SETTINGS>SYSTEM>HDMI SETTINGS). On entering standby (pressing remote control...

Thanks for that. At this point any update is a positive one, but why oh why is eARC taking so long lol?

I have the Shield Pro and it will play Atmos from digital files through Plex. If I remember I will post a photo showing that either tonight or later this week to confirm.

    AirPods Max

I received my APM earlier this week. I have a pair of HD800 that I use for most of my home listening, but have found myself gravitating toward the APM because not only do I like the sound, but they are just so convenient. No need to worry about cables and connecting to amps. They will be what...

Hulu has some 5.1 content now. HBO Max currently has one movie with Atmos, but it sounds like the plan is to add more. The Shield HBO Max app was updated before the release of Wonder Woman 84 to support Atmos and Dolby Vision.

It is limited to 4K/60 but the newer revision has eARC (not yet enabled by firmware) so you can connect your devices to HDMI 2.1 on a tv and then send the sound from the tv to the A16 via eARC.

You are correct, right now to the best of my knowledge PS5 doesn’t not support 4K/120 or VRR for that matter so not much is being missed if you don’t connect it to HDMI 2.1 currently. I basically have my setup with all my consoles and PC connected directly to my tv which is a CX OLED and then my...

That makes three of us. eARC was the main reason for going through the headache of sending my A16 to be upgraded. I have both new consoles and a new graphics card that all support HDMI 2.1 so my setup has me connecting those directly to my tv and wanting to use eARC for audio. My workaround...

@audiohobbit I apologize if I missed it somewhere, but did you ever figure out what the best files were for async measurements? Meaning which is the best file for premeasurement gain calibration and all that stuff? I might have some time to take another shot at my 5.1 async capture and was...

I mean quite honestly if you just follow the instructions in the 1.80 firmware document that Smyth Research provided, you’ll be fine. My guide was more to give people an idea of what files they’ll need to gather and what external devices they’ll need to make it work such as a laptop and AVR with...

You know, I never went and even looked to see if other rooms had a level_cal file and didn't really study the file before I captured the PRIR last night. I setup my Windows output to 5.1 so I'm not sure if that makes a difference vs. sending the signal out as 7.1. I only have a 5.1 setup so that...

i used the files in sound room 8 for my capture. I setup the room before measuring on the A16 with F, C, R, LS, RS, SW and when played the files the sweeps played on the correct speakers and the A16 recognized that it had captured the back speakers as LS RS instead of thinking the were LR RR so...

So in theory you’ve been able to capture up to a 16 channel PRIR since the A16 starting shipping. However, up until the async files being somewhat available you had to rely on having access to an AVR that had the appropriate number of analog inputs for the A16 itself to be able to output the...

As requested here is a guide for what I did to make a PRIR using the async method. Thanks to @Thomasphoenix98 for the async files and to @audiohobbit for pointing out which folder a few necessary files were stored in. Here we go. Items Needed: Release notes for firmware 1.80 and 1.90 as the...

This is a thing with UPS too. They ask for a SS number when dealing with customs. They also make you sign power of attorney for outgoing customs, but I don’t you have to for incoming. Do you have a FexEx Kinkos close? I know for sure that they would have printing and scanning. UPS would print...

I used a Harmony with the A16, but I basically had to set everything up manually. I also stopped using it about a month ago because I was losing too much functionality with my devices like my LG OLED with the Magic Remote and the use of voice search on my Apple TV 4K and NVidia Shield Pro.

Once eARC is enabled on the A16 (assuming you have the updated hardware) you’ll be fine. Run your PC and consoles to your CX, use eARC to get sound from the CX to the A16. This is the reason that I sent my A16 back for the upgraded HDMI board. I have a 55” CX that I got in April. I’ll be...

I have only tested it for HDMI, but it seems to pass any audio from a given HDMI in to the HDMI out on the A16. The toggles for pass through are per HDMI in instead of a universal setting. It does only work in a full powered on state, but would certainly be useful if they got it working in standby.
