Workout/Everyday In-Ear + Microphone
So I'd love some ideas from you all. Here is the criteria: In-ear (Comply compatible would be nice) Microphone (audio controls a big plus) Under $110 And added plus would be durability and the ability to be washed/get wet (not at all a requirement). So head-fi, what are your...- whubbard

Millett MOSFET-MAX Build
No worries, it's a pretty natural stain with only a hint of red. 275mV: running great. Also, found this in my Misc. Hardware drawer, will do for now.- whubbard

Millett MOSFET-MAX Build
Tom, Thanks for the advice. What you see is actually the result of 2 applications of stain and 2 coats of polyurethane. For the main voltage I will try pushing it back up to 27V. Hopefully the wall-wart will cooperate this time. In regard to the DB Bias is it going to be any...- whubbard

Millett MOSFET-MAX Build
We'll it's almost all done now. I'm really not sure why I bothered using Birch ply. I truly should have used nice hardwood, but whats done is done, and the amp turned out cosmetically so/so. However...sonically, this amp is great! Very low noise and it's got such amazing clarity. I have...- whubbard

Millett MOSFET-MAX Build
Thanks for the comments guys. I had completely forgotten about drilling holes in the bottom, but will definitely do it to promote cooling. I've got the MOSFETs biased at 250mv, so they'll need the extra help. I'll just print out the PCB template and knock them out with my drill press. The...- whubbard

Millett MOSFET-MAX Build
Here are some picture of my build in progress.. Also, I'm thinking of lining the entire case with copper to create a Faraday cage. Any expert thoughts on this? Click on the photo's for a larger version. Some build notes: I've still got to finish drilling the holes in the...- whubbard

Help on a new amplifier purchase
That's a cool looking amp. I think I'll build the MOSFET Diamond Buffer version. Only other amp I hear really good things about is the β22 from AMB, but I'm not sure I want a task that big right now. I'm building a turn table which takes a significant amount of time, so the Millet Max seems...- whubbard

DIY Cable Gallery!!
Hi All, Quick question. I'm going to be making some cables with 1/8" connectors and I'm wondering where you all like to get your supplies (connectors and cables)? I've made some stereo cables before, and wired up a few amps with most of my supplies coming from soniccraft.com and Michael...- whubbard

Help on a new amplifier purchase
I'm VERY open to DIY. Basically my entire home stereo is DIY. Maybe I should change this up. If I'm willing to spend $400 on a DIY amp what would you recommend? I will research the SOHA II and CTH Hybrid.- whubbard

Help on a new headphone purchase.
No need for "portable". I'm happy with my Klipsch X-10s for ultra portable, and I also don't mind carrying larger headphones when I feel like it. I listen to everything but Heavy metal, country, and "modern" rap (80s & early 90s rap is good). However, I am mainly listening to all types of rock.- whubbard

Help on a new amplifier purchase.
Thanks for the input. I really appreciate it. The way you described the Mustang has me definitely wanting to purchase it, but Mochan you seem to think there is something better for the price. Do you have anything in mind? Also I will have the Mini^3 completed for $124.61 including shipping...- whubbard

Help on a new amplifier purchase.
We'll after I realized how cheap the Mini^3 could be had for, I jumped. I still might want to get the P-51 if it's better though.- whubbard

Help on a new amplifier purchase
So I'm looking to get a new amplifier for about $300 to $500. I'm a fan of tubes and while I like clear playback I'm okay with a little extra warmth added to the music. However, tubes are definitely not a 'necessity' of the new amp. I'm thinking of the Grado RA1 WooAudio 3...- whubbard

Help on a new headphone purchase.
So I'm looking to get a new set of headphones for about $500 to $700. Right now I'm leaning towards the Grado RS2i as it seems like it's not really worth the extra $$ for the RS1i. Thoughts? Other suggestions? I'm a fan of tubes and while I like crystal clear playback I'm okay with a little...- whubbard

Help on a new amplifier purchase.
I'm looking to get a new portable headphone amp and the P-51 seems perfect. I don't really wan't to spend anymore than $400 and RSA's new SR-71B seems like overkill based on what I'm looking for. For $400 are there any other recommendations. If I'm willing to DIY does the Mini^3 come close to...- whubbard

CMoys and Airport Security
Well I'm usually bad when it comes to air travel and generally have a bag full of a mess of wires but there was one incident which was particularly bad. I was flying from Amsterdam to JFK and had a bag with Laptop, D70 (big camera), Zune, and all the possible wires you could bring for those...- whubbard

Any way to convert Zune HP out into a Line out
I would also really love to this too, But I think the better way to go at it is to get the Line Out from the plug at the bottom, we just need to figure out what the 'trigger' is.- whubbard

In need of a nice portable amp. $300-$400.
Thank you for all of the suggestions. I have a few questions: How does the Hornet compare to the P-51? What are the main differences? Is the SR71A actual overkill as it seems that a fair bit of development went into using it with bigger, over the ear, headphones? Will the SR71A provide...- whubbard
