Pre-order the HIFIMAN EF600 DAC/Amp on Apos Audio Now
Is the DAC the same in the 600 and 400? 600 is labelled as "PRO" is there a difference? I absolutely love the 400 with all HifiMan phones but would look at the 600 if it were an upgrade. Thoughts??- SpudHarris

Help Identifying 6SN7 Tubes
Thanks both for the info. I bought them as NOS and probably put about 150 hours on them. They were my favourites for quite some time. Think they are date matched also. Will put them on the for sale thread tonight... Many thanks again guys 👍- SpudHarris

Help Identifying 6SN7 Tubes
Hello all, hope you are all safe and well... I'm having to try and raise some funds due to having taken a huge pay cut because of the Covid 19 situation. I sold my Icon Tube Amp a long time ago but have some tubes here that I'd like to sell but could do with some advice regarding their worth or...- SpudHarris

D7000 was my all time favourite go to can until I blew one of the drivers by accidentally flicking a switch on a new Amp/Dac... I bought the D7200 to replace the D7000 and was captivated by the sound but in a different way to the D7000. I eventually replaced the drivers of my D7000 with Fostex...- SpudHarris

I wanted to try my 7200's balanced from my Oppo HA1 so made my own cable with Van Damme SPOFC Starquad covered with Nylon Multifilament. Been using VAN Damme for lots cables over the years and it is very, very good. Not just good quality but it's reasonably priced also.- SpudHarris

These came today and although the plastic circle does go in, these pads retain some of the original oval shape. Not sure if that is a good or bad thing yet but will be listening with them tonight. Aesthetically they are not as nice as the Dekoni pads but nice for the money I guess. The PU...- SpudHarris

I have the lambskin Dekoni TH900 pads and they are a perfect fit with no degradation of sound but will order a set of AHG pads for the hell of it. They aren't real leather though, phones this high quality really do deserve that luxury and in my opinion they should come with real leather pads as...- SpudHarris

I'm a happy boy tonight as mine have been returned from the service centre today. I have forgotten just how great these phones are... Balanced cable made from my old AH-D7000 cable and Dekoni Elite TH-900 pads. Going to be a late one tonight- SpudHarris

Well, good news for me. Mine are on route back from the service centre. Although the left hand driver was the problem they replaced both left and right so it's like starting from scratch. Looking forward to having these back in the fold. I am very exited, as you are with a new purchase but in...- SpudHarris

Can't speak for k4syx but mine were used for about 120 hours and at moderate volumes. I'm sure that these are isolated issues, coincidental yes but nothing for peeps to panic about. In the meantime I am revisiting the HD800S which is a great phone but a little anemic in the low end in...- SpudHarris

k4syx, thanks for the post. Not good that you are going through the same thing but kind of nice to know that I am not on my own... Mine are with the service centre and I am missing them badly... Hope you get yours back soon :)- SpudHarris

I am gutted, mine have developed a low range distortion on the left driver which has made critical listening impossible. Had to send back for repair... It's not on all music but most of my favourite tunes are bass heavy. Got other phones but these are being missed badly at present.- SpudHarris

I believe everyone will subjectively find something different in pads, cables etc... I think (believe) I can notice a difference in cables but I really can't pick out any difference in pads apart from aesthetics. The original cable is great but I didn't want to butcher it so have made myself a...- SpudHarris

I am using Dekoni TH900 leather pads with mine and to be truthful I hear you guys regarding differences/improvements and can appreciate that. However, I just thought a prestige set of phones like these deserved premium pads. I haven't been disappointed by the TH900 leather pads.- SpudHarris

Well, this thread has come to life this evening for sure... The D7200 for me is my go to phone since about a month of use. I don't find it lacking anywhere. I own the D7000 (modded with TH900 drivers) and yes, they are more detailed/revealing but not necessarily in a good way. If I have a new...- SpudHarris

Headphone Returns??
Thanks everyone for your thoughts. @PointyFox, I would never do that, I honestly expected to love these phones but they just don't suit either a) my gear/set up or b) my favoured musical genre or even a combo of both. The link in my original post is the UK Consumer Rights which looks to be on...- SpudHarris
