    Laptop streaming vs dedicated streamer?

With Gumby it's worth a try. I recommend Raspberry Pi based solutions, like Pi2AES, Allo DigiOne. These are cheap and avoid USB.

YGGDRASIL A1 USB GEN3 VS YGGDRASIL GS VS YGGDRASIL A2

No, there isn't much difference in GS vs. A1, as GS is based on A1 with some minor changes. I upgraded from A1 to A2 and I believe A2 has more balanced sound. A1 was quite bright, detailed, while A2 is warmer. Concerning USB, I believe GEN3 is to be avoided at all, GEN5 usable but still SPDIF is...

Can someone recommend a good lightening to 3.5mm potable dac ?

I don't have direct experience, but 300 Ohm impedance of HD650 may be too much for cheap Apple dongle.

    Meze Empyrean amp pairing

Why not sell Qutest and upgrade to Hugo TT2? Better DAC, excellent headphone output. Or, the best amp available, Benchmark HPA4.

What a long, strange trip it's been -- (Robert Hunter)

The idea reminds me multiple filters in delta sigma DACs. Nonsense to me, I spent hours playing with it with no clear result and joy.

I am trying to locate an “IIS” cable and don’t seem to be able to find one?

Cable is not enough. Your PC would have to have IIS output, which is unlikely. You need to stick with available outputs, which is USB. Anything other requires specific hardware.

DAC under 600€ to pair with Asgard 3.

Schiit Bifrost 2, but little over the limit.

Can I use usb WiFi adapter for my DAC?

I don't think so, but who knows what it really is, "USB network". Sounds suspicious to me.

Laptop vs iPad vs dedicated source

It depends on how good are the input modules of your DAC. Some play same quality regardless of the source (bit perfect stream, of course), some react to source, cables, power supply. Generally speaking, iPad is quality source.

    Dac/amp to use with ROON?

With Roon and MQA DAC I see no problem there. It has nothing to do with OS.

    Dac/amp to use with ROON?

Then there is the option of Raspberry Pi end point and USB DAC/AMP. You install Roopiee software to Pi, it's really easy.

    Dac/amp to use with ROON?

The question is too open, I'm afraid. I can only answer the part about my stwo setups, where I have Benchmark DAC3 and Schiit Yggdrasil. I let Roon decode MQA.

Probably yes. The amp takes just the positive signal from XLR, which is equal to RCA.

Best Bluetooth headphones for SQ and battery life?

You're right, I made wrong assumption as Drop offers external Mic to Pandas.

No problems here. In fact, I usually sit down in chair when listening with headphones, so I rarely move.

Best Bluetooth headphones for SQ and battery life?

From what I read on this site, Shure Aonic 50 or Dali IO-6 are top of the class in terms of sound quality, when you prefer neutral sound signature. Go for Sony, if you prefer bass. I personally tried Valco model 19 (https://valco.io/products/wireless-anc-headphones), returned them because they...

    Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread

Never heard Gumby myself, but from what others write, I'd expect brighter sound, more air, more transparency. I own Yggy A1 w/unison USB installed.

    All things Metrum Acoustics

The free version of Volumio has no direct support of Tidal. You can stream from computer or phone via AirPlay or UPnP, but if you want to use phone only as a controller, then you need BubbleUPNP server running somewhere on your local network. Then iPeng, Linn Kazoo or Lumin App on mobile do the...

I think Hermes is 1200 EUR, while Ambre is 1099 EUR, both incl. VAT (for EU customers).
