    I usually add silicon autosil as thin layer to avoid the reverb from plastic housing..and I only use dynamat to sealing the gap between baffles and the driver capsule or on the driver edge.. it would make the driver sound more focused, more solid body..

    i dont quiet sure are there any posibilities the diff caused by that issue or not.. but from what i remember, rotating the magnet lining could cause a difference result on their sonic wave... you might check this out... it known as a standart/factory magnet lining position from a stock T20v1...

    nice Nick, using a ring of dynamat as an adhesive to hold the driver to baffle should refine all the freqs.. have you try to seal all the plasticy area as well inside the housing?

    you might settle up with the right "ingredients" on the damping schemes sooner or later.. and, pick the silicon sealer which is use for car machines gasket, like this: its easy to remove if you dont seems to like the result..way better than any kind of blutak, even if it smelly when apply on...

    Ericj, try cover the plastic area with silicon sealer like Foss or Autosil..i did that on every ortho cans that i have owned, present or previous and its work very well on cancel the weird sound from the plastic reverb.. and lining the capsule driver with dynamat help tightening and more focused...

    good question.. well mostly the vintage ortho design is using supraural pads, even the cup size is fullsize.. cmiw, only wharfedale ID1 that i know that using a circumaural as stock pads.. many of vintage ortho need supraural or flat pads to sounds properly/balance, good seal is a must for...
