Campfire Audio Vega (and Dorado and Lyra II) - Head-Fi TV

I agree. The Vegas sound very good plugged directly into my iPad Air. They sound even better with my iPhone 7 Plus, Dragonfly Red and Apple CCK.

    Beyerdynamic Xelento!

Love my Xelentos and the stock cable sounds good enough to me although I may try the CA Silver Litz cable that came with my Lyra IIs to see how the Xelento sounds with that cable. To me the Xelento sounds somewhere in between the CA Lyra II and the CA Vega. Not as relaxed sounding as the Lyra...

    SONY NW-ZX2 DAP

I don't own the iFi DSD so I can't comment on that but the ZX2 has a hit or miss connection with my Aurender Flow. Sometimes I need to restart the ZX2 to get the connection to work. The Flow also has the same problem with my Windows 10 Surfacebook but no problems with my Macs or iOS devices so...

Campfire Audio Vega (and Dorado and Lyra II) - Head-Fi TV

I've never been a huge fan of foam tips because you have to replace them and for me they lose their expandability after only a few uses. I tried the stock silicone tips with my Lyra IIs but they made the treble a tad too bright and splashy. I then emailed Campfire Audio and they told me they...

Campfire Audio Polaris - New CA IEM

Thanks deafdoorknob! I love my Lyra IIs. They sound fantastic and even scale very well with better sources and amps. Sounds like once you get to the Polaris and above in the CA lineup that each IEM is tuned to potentially be an endgame IEM depending on what sound signature you are looking for.

Campfire Audio Polaris - New CA IEM

I wonder how the Polaris compares to the Dorado? Is it tuned differently than the Dorado or is it just the younger sibling of the Dorado?

    Beyerdynamic Xelento!

I agree regarding the miniaturized Tesla drivers found in the Xelentos. Before purchasing I narrowed my choices down to the CA Vegas and the Xelentos. I already owned the CA Lyra IIs. I chose the Xelentos because they still sound very dynamic and draw you into the music but are not as...

    Beyerdynamic Xelento!

Yup whether you believe in burn-in or not Beyer recommends 100 hours of burn-in on the Xelentos for optimum sound quality. My opinion is that burn-in helped the Xelentos as the bass is still very powerful but tighter and more controlled after burn-in.

Campfire Audio Polaris - New CA IEM

That's what I love my Lyra IIs-great bass combined with very easy to listen to but also engaging and dynamic sound-draws you into the music. Also extremely comfortable so you can listen for hours at a time. Great job Ken & Co.

Campfire Audio Vega (and Dorado and Lyra II) - Head-Fi TV

The Lyra IIs have strong bass but I wouldn't categorize them as a basshead IEM. I only listened to the Vegas briefly at Axpona 2017 and my recollection is they have slightly stronger bass than the Lyra IIs and a more forward sound overall so they are not as relaxed sounding as the Lyra IIs...

Campfire Audio Vega (and Dorado and Lyra II) - Head-Fi TV

I agree with everything NealH said. If I could only keep one earphone or headphone it would be the Lyra II (and I own LCD-XCs and Xelentos for example). The Lyra II is the most versatile phone in my lineup. Sounds good enough to be an endgame IEM. Can be driven easily by portables. Is...

Campfire Audio Vega (and Dorado and Lyra II) - Head-Fi TV

The Lyra II is one of the best universal IEMS regardless of price. I love mine and repurchased them after selling them on this site. They have great dynamic driver bass and are relaxed sounding enough that you can listen to them for hours at a time; but they are also exciting and dynamic...

Campfire Audio Vega (and Dorado and Lyra II) - Head-Fi TV

I don't own the Vega but had a chance to listen to it at Axpona 2017 (albeit in a somewhat noisy environment). To my ears, the Vega still had a slightly relaxed signature (not as relaxed as the Lyra II) but had more bass and more of a forward sounding midrange and top end than the Lyra II...

    Beyerdynamic Xelento!

With a rated 16 ohm impedance and 110 db sensitivity, the Xelentos should be fairly easy to drive out of any smartphone or tablet. Even the weak headphone amp in my Nintendo Switch can drive the Xelentos without any problems. The Xelentos sound good plugged directly into my iPhone 6S and iPad...

    Beyerdynamic Xelento!

I had a chance to listen to the 2nd Gen T5p briefly at Axpona 2017 at the Beyer exhibit. I like the new sound tuning (warmer signature, better bass than the original). If I was in the market for a full sized closed portable headphone it would certainly be on my short list.

Campfire Audio Vega (and Dorado and Lyra II) - Head-Fi TV

Just noticed on ALO Audio's website that they make a lightning version of the silver litz IEM cable. Has anyone tried the lightning cable with their Campfire Audio or other IEMs? I really like the Lyra IIs so much that I repurchased them after selling them on this site. Love their bass and...

    Beyerdynamic Xelento!

Thanks for the info Twister6! I've emailed my contact at Beyer North America to see if I can purchase the Bluetooth cable separately for my Xelento Remote which I might be interested in doing. Wish they would have included support for LDAC Bluetooth streaming as Sony recently made LDAC public...

$1295 Aurender FLOW - portable DAC/amp with mSATA slot for up to 1TB SSD

OK please ignore my earlier post. Got the Flow to work with my Windows 10 laptop. Had a conflict with a previous USB DAC/Headphone amp that used a similar driver. Once I resolved the conflict everything is working fine.

    Beyerdynamic Xelento!

I also tried the Vegas at Axpona 2017 a few weeks ago. The Vegas sounded pretty good but a little too bass heavy for me and I found the mids to be more forward than the Xelentos. Also, as Trager mentioned you cannot beat the comfort and form factor of the Xelentos.

$1295 Aurender FLOW - portable DAC/amp with mSATA slot for up to 1TB SSD

Recently purchased the Flow and it sounds great (on par with my former Calyx M DAP and current Sony ZX2). It works flawlessly with my MacBook Pro, MacMini and iOS devices. I have a 500 GB mSata drive installed. I cannot however get it to work with my Windows 10 Surface Book. After...

    Beyerdynamic Xelento!

Everyone's mileage may vary but the stock silicone tips work the best for me. Isolation is decent for a universal IEM and the stock tips to me provide the most transparent and dynamic sound. I've also used medium SpinFit tips (CP-100) with the the Xelentos and they would be my second choice...
