Bass-Heads, United We Stand
Ah cool , will def give it a try then. That is cool, I had R2, R3 and R3 Pro, very nice players. MSEB is fun, but I always found that it can also make IEMs distort. PEQ function is interesting. They have a new R1 that looks fun.- bassct

Bass-Heads, United We Stand
Hi there, nice collection of IEMs. I have a question as to how does Kbear Rosefinch stack up w the all the expensive IEMs. I see IMR in your collections and I am well familiar with those. There is a deal coming up for Rosefinch and I am tempted to give them a try. Another question regarding...- bassct

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best
Decided to share a trick for those who have multiple DACs. Magnetic charging data cable makes it super easy to swap between different devices and also charging. They have a short cable too of about 16 inches ( 50cm ) that can be used with phones with a male USB C to female USB A adapter. Cable...- bassct

Best IEM tips?
I just got Fiio HS20 and oh wow... Thin and soft, great seal, very comfortable. Once it heats up to your body temp they basically disappear in your ears. I tried SpinFit, Spiral Dot OG and the latest ones ( still like both ). But HS20 just takes the crown.- bassct

HiBy R1 $85 CS43131 DAP Released!
OP, thank you for such a detailed overview! Smalls DAPs are cool but getting battery life right can be tricky. This one sure looks good. I have had Shanling M2x, M0, Hiby R2 R3 R3pro. Might give this a try.- bassct

Is the microSD on a DAP for external files?
Usually on-device memory is much faster in read/write speeds than the SD cards, thus it is much quicker at moving music files. It might not be the case with the new SD cards from manufacturers like Samsung as they have gotten pretty fast. Another thing is that SD cards are easy to move around...- bassct

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best
I will second that CDA-M2 is one the best sounding devices. I have not seen too many people comment on it but I do have one and it is a keeper. It produces detailed yet thick/rich sound, not dry or overly analytical. Do not buy the Titanium, regular grey looks and feels very nice and will sound...- bassct

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best
Got Colorfly CDA-M2 and KA17 recently. I prefer the Colorfly. Out of 4.4 on Sony EX800ST the dynamic swing seems to be better. There is nothing wrong with Fiio. It is detailed with more options and detailed sound but it is not as meaty as Colorfly. The difference presents itself in the bass...- bassct

Anyone tried out the new THX Onyx?
Judging by ASR reviews there are a few very good options: -TempoTec Sonata BHD Pro -TANCHJIM Space I know there are others that just have not been tested by ASR.- bassct

I built my own DAP
Really cool! You can switch between different USB DACs and get different sound and output (2.5, 3.5, 4.4). Looks like it is working very fast, both scanning and selecting and playing songs.- bassct

Android equalizer for portable dac
Here is my personal experience with EQs. Most implementations are pure trash imo, even on DAPs, when EQing bass/lows. The best one I have found is an Android app DSP manager from Cyanogen mod on a rooted Galaxy Nexus i9250 and Qudelix 5K being a close second. This phone is no audiophile device...- bassct

New to iems
IEM world is a very very deep rabbit hole. It is good to determine what kind of sound you like early on and try and settle on something. Try different IEMs when you get a chance. Most can be easily driven by a smartphone but a good inexpensive DAC/AMP can improve the experience. Quedelix 5k has...- bassct

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best
Another addition from Periodic audio. 4377ECB based DAC/Amp. Small, light, plays all formats. Would be interesting to see the reviews. https://periodicaudio.com/product/silicon-micro-dac-amp/- bassct

The Qudelix-5K thread
1. I think it is using phones battery only when in dac mode. Others can correct me if I am wrong. 2. You are able to choose from one of the 8 filters. Plenty of options.- bassct

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best
Thanks for the input. Shio seems like a nice price/perf option. I dont have anything that is hard to drive so dont really need the power. Thx Onyx is the most powerful dongle ive come across, a few volume steps and it is loud. Qudelix is great and E1DA is a top performer as well.- bassct

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best
I thought Dragonflys were top of the line, but unfotunately they are overpriced and underperform. The market now has a lot of sub 100$ dacs w great specs and performance. E1DA dacs are well priced and have honest specs with stellar performance. Paw s1-s2, Ibassos dc03 04 05 06, hidizs has...- bassct

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best
Little collection: Qudelix 5K, E1DA 9038D6K, THX Onyx. All 3 are great. Solid specs and performance. Enough power for most gear. Have not really spent much time comparing them since I do not currently own any mid-high/high-end IEMs/HPs.- bassct

Recommend the best sounding DAP under $200?
HIby R3 Pro Saber is an excellent device. Shanling recently released 2 upgrades to its player lineup. You could get a good dongle and just use your phone. Or a BT receiver like IFI Go Blue and Qudelix5k. I dont think there was a device in that price range that stood out more than any other, they...- bassct

Anyone tried out the new THX Onyx?
Have not that happen. I listen at 8/100. With such a big difference you have to develop a habit of turning it on BEFORE inserting IEMs in. I have had that happen with other devices and it is NOT fun.- bassct

Anyone tried out the new THX Onyx?
I tried comparing the two while volume matched. Q5k was in performance/low gain. I could not tell a difference. Both are clear with good bass response. If there are any differences they are either very small or I am unable to distinguish them on my 192-320 mp3 tracks. If you have a a chance to...- bassct

Anyone tried out the new THX Onyx?
To my ears it is better than Xduoo Link 2. As far as Q5k goes they sound similarly clean and clear because of the ESS DACs. I also think that THX amp makes music sound dynamic. Hard to explain but something along the lines of having deeper more resolving lows vs shallow. I've had and tried...- bassct

Once you connect to it and modify settings they are saved on the Qudelix. Turning off the APP does not reset settings back to stock. So just set everything the way you want and forget it.- bassct
