K701 thread
I never got them to sound right, even with a CanAmp. A lot of people acclimated to the sound, but when you compare it to something like a 650, you can immediately hear it's shortcomings. I haven't used them in years but what I remember is that I attempted to "fix" the sound with Foobar EQ and...- upstateguy

Can you hear a difference between DAC's?
Stello claims the DA100 uses an AKM4395 DAC chipset, sixth-order digital filter, and a fully discrete class-A analog output stage with "true 192kHz/24-bit upsampling….Stello also claims its ARSC , a specially designed clock circuit employing a PLL, makes for 'extremely low jitter. Does that...- upstateguy

Can you hear a difference between DAC's?
I'm rusty on this. So both the regular output and the upsample to 192 output on that DAC are bitperfect?- upstateguy

Can you hear a difference between DAC's?
Hey Baten, could you go into a little more detail. Don't most modern DACs upsample to some extent? If they do, it seems that no two DACs would sound the same unless they used the exact same chips. And like I asked Castle, years ago Bit Perfect was a big thing. If all these DACs are using...- upstateguy

Can you hear a difference between DAC's?
Hi Guys I've posted this a couple of times over the years, but check this out. I have an older April music Stello DA100 Dac. On the front it has an upsample to 24/192 switch. When you throw the switch it changes the sound. We had some lively discussions about which position sounded better...- upstateguy

New Beyerdynamic T1 (2nd Generation)
I tried 770 and "old" 880 pads, not good for T1, muddied the treble, sounded awful. 990 pads and T1 pads are the same and those work.- upstateguy

K701 thread
YMMV but they never were any good. I have them, never use them. Sitting in a plastic zip bag unused. People claimed good results years ago with Heed amps... needed a lot of EQ and even then they didn't sound right. OTOH, listen to them long enough and maybe you can acclimate to the sound...- upstateguy
