From what I have read, I got an impression that the built-in battery only supplements the power provided by the source/transport, instead of replacing it completely (and the primary USB port is not data only). This seems to suggest so as well. But I'm very well may be misinterpreting that...

Does BTR17 still draw power from the source device/transport when connected via USB when not in the PC mode? If so, can it be prevented so that it works only from its internal battery?

Android based DAP without access to streaming services is a waste and makes very little sense, imo. I really doubt FiiO went this road.

Didn't expect the BTR17 to cost more than the Android based DAP, and from the same brand as well! JM1 seems to have all the same features and specs are pretty much the same too, isn't that so? The latter seems like a better value.

@FiiO Excuse me, but may I ask you what should I expect the BTR17's output impedance to be? BTR7 has a pretty high output impedance of ~2 Ohm, if I remember correctly, which is something I consider problematic, especially with the unfortunate current trend for IEMs to have unusually low impedance.

It's so highly subjective... But I really like W1 with Variations. Moreso than CP100+. The latter also seem to partially block the sound guiding tubes, which kind of makes me wary. I can't imagine that having a positive effect.
