post your grado mods....
I used similiar 3,5mm connectors in my Grado sr225e mod. They've been good and solid so far. Be careful though with hot air and cup separating, I made mistake using heat gun too close and plastic got deformed. Lucky that driver survived. Ended up buying wooden cups. I prefer to confirm pin...- ilmothedude

Xuelin H6 (ihifi1969) review and impressions
I'm not familiar with MAC computers, but in Windows 10 and Lubuntu both card and internal storages show up normally in file browser, like any other type of mass storage device would. Have the player's second screen turned off (lower switch down), when connecting in to computer. I don't know if...- ilmothedude

Great review! How you describe the sound characteristics feels pretty similiar to my Xuelin H6. Seems like that might be Xuelin's house sound. It's a very captivating sound. What's not captivating is that firmware. It looks very similiar with H6 firmware, expect with two screens more. Looks like...- ilmothedude

Xuelin H6 (ihifi1969) review and impressions
I tested flac file you shared on my Xuelin ihifi1969 and it indeed gives error and won't play. I have maybe (probably) latest firmware 1.08 2017-11-21. So your player is not to blame, it's the file for reason unknown. Most of my flac files are my own cd rips with EAC, with compression level at 5...- ilmothedude

Earbuds Round-Up
I recently bought Fiio RC-UE2B 2.5mm balanced cable to use with my Rose Maria. It has same type of 0,75mm 2 pin connector, even with same kind of recessed design, so it fits Maria perfectly. Now I can use Maria over ear, and it works surprisingly well. Actually really well, I think this is the...- ilmothedude

Obscure Chinese DAPs
Looks like Xuelin is planning on releasing a new DAP. I'll share some info here I found from Xuelin's baidu site. DAC:ES9038Q2M*2...- ilmothedude

My "wireless" Grado implementation with Earstudio ES100 bluetooth receiver. Today soldered the cable with correct lengths to make this nifty setup. Works very well and is easy to remove and install. Grado is sr225e model with shibibo audio cups and aluminum blocks, taped L cushion, diy foam...- ilmothedude

Xuelin H6 (ihifi1969) review and impressions
I don't have such problem. Most of my music in my 128gb sandisk ultra card is in FLAC format and I never get file format error. I have I think one mp3 file which gives always that error though, but there's probably just something wrong with that file, I haven't bothered to check. Maybe there's...- ilmothedude

Earbuds Round-Up
Now that's very unfair.. Is Penon actually modifying package contents or something.. I assume two cables is what Rose Technics provides with Maria, as there were two cables with Masya aswell. Did you only get one cable with Maria?- ilmothedude

Earbuds Round-Up
That's strange as I think there were that same picture of copper cable when I ordered, but I still got that original blue cable along with silver braided one. Quite shortly after I got Maria it went out of stock, so I probably got one of last pairs of discounted Maria from Penon. That blue cable...- ilmothedude

I normally use her cable down with double foams (one full and one donut, from ve ex-pack). I've tried around ear aswell but it hasn't usually felt that stable. However right now I'm listening to Maria cable around ear and fit seems actually pretty stable. Bass seems to be a bit less present...- ilmothedude

I agree, amaizingly coherent tuning! Works indeed well with warmer source. I sometimes like to listen my Maria with a bit of crossfeed as it creates more sense of depth thus making midrange little less forward. Fit is still a little gripe though as sometimes they just don't want to stay in...- ilmothedude

Rose Martini looks really nice! Would be interesting to know how they perform compared to Maria. I've now spent over a month with my Rose Maria and I really like them! That soundstage and imaging are still so impressive. I haven't listened much of anything else after I got them. That signature...- ilmothedude

Well it's about time Rose moves to more common connector type. I even measure the pin diameter of Maria cable with micrometer, and it showed exactly 0,75mm. But at least I now have four compatible cables to use with Maria or Masya.- ilmothedude

Earbuds Round-Up
I bought Rose Maria as upgrade to Rose Masya (mk2), as Masya had become one of my top favorite earphone. Masya has bright but very smooth signature, with spacious soundstage width and depth, and quite decent bass extension for earbud. Maria is clear upgrade to my ears as could be expected...- ilmothedude

Koss KPH30i appreciation thread
Those gold portas look sweet! I'd suggest porta pros, as I personally prefer their looks, they're foldable and they're a lot easier to mod (kramer mod) if you want to open up the sound. Porta pro driver is open compared to same driver in shell on kph30i, so in theory porta pro could sound more...- ilmothedude

Xuelin H6 (ihifi1969) review and impressions
That's definitely a bad act on Xuelins side. Gapless should be so easy to add in firmware, at least with cue file. I mean it's already one single file and cue just adds track marks. H6 supports cue, but it STILL has gaps between songs, even though it plays one single file. What a flaw.- ilmothedude

Topping D50
I sometimes have problem with my D50 and Thinkpad T400 that usb remains unlocked. It happens when I boot the laptop and somehow D50 just can't seem to get the usb input. Happens pretty rarely though. I use second usb port on laptop to provide power. When this happens, Usb is usually recognized...- ilmothedude

Shure SRH1840 and SRH1440 Unveiled!
https://penonaudio.com/accessories/earphone-cable/mmcx/ourart-copper-mixed-silver-plated-mmcx-cable.html To be fair, to my ears there's no any clear or evident improvements in sound. Cable switching process takes several seconds so proper a/b testing can't be done. However I tested cables at...- ilmothedude

Shure SRH1840 and SRH1440 Unveiled!
I made little diy mmcx "extension pieces" for my srh1440. Mmcx sockets on Shures are deep in the shell so normal mmcx connector won't fit in there, so I made a little extension pieces which allow me to use normal mmcx cables. Solder work and with heat shrink. Heat shrink makes snug fit to...- ilmothedude

Shure SRH1840 and SRH1440 Unveiled!
I'm no way an expert regarding cables. To me, basically cable is a cable indeed, BUT it's more like good enough cable is good enough cable for certain headphone (and in certain gear). Most evident and logical improvement cable can have is cable diameter being larger ie thicker or more cores, and...- ilmothedude
