The Closed-Back Headphone Thread (Plus Comparisons & Reviews)
I don’t always use my iPad I sometimes use an old iPhone I have with all my music. As you know the Hugo 2 can be connected by Bluetooth also. But you always get better sound wired. But it allows for variable setups. Plus the Hugo 2 can also drive the HE-R10Ps but when you add the Cayin C9II. It...- Spawn300Z

AKG K812 Pro, underrated?
The Susvaras OG and AB1266 TC. I have the Riviera AIC-10 run them off speaker taps. The Sus OG is magical off the AIC-10. I also like the DCA Stealths/Expanse this way also. The rest I use off the headphone jacks. I use my Focals in bedroom off the Chird Hugo TT2/M-Mscaler stack more.- Spawn300Z

Yes those or the LCD4/4Z but with the gear he has listed he wouldn’t realize their full potential and leave a lot on the table.- Spawn300Z

AKG K812 Pro, underrated?
It’s been a journey. I’m very eclectic and find different headphones suit my mood or music genre I’m listening to at the moment. Originally I wanted a pair of phones from each driver type. But decided I didn’t want to go down the Estat road after listening to Ribbons. But I happen to prefer...- Spawn300Z

I’m confused are you telling us these are as good as the K872 or DCA Stealths. They might be a nice budget offering. But I find that hard to believe.- Spawn300Z

HIFIMAN HE-R10 Closed-Back Headphones Discussion & Impressions
A good cable makes a difference with these. Heard good things about that cable. I prefer Hybrid than pure silver. It gives me the best of both worlds.- Spawn300Z

Given the gear you have listed I would lean more to the Empy or D8000 Pro. Even then I would add the Cayin C9II or used C9 to your Chord Hugo 2.- Spawn300Z

AKG K812 Pro, underrated?
These are great headphones and very underrated. But I’ve been debating on letting mine go. I have been reducing my collection of headphones. Trying to get them down to 8 to 10 cans. I’ve made great progress so far. But now I have the Raal 1995 Immanis in my crosshairs. This hobby seems to...- Spawn300Z

Mola Mola Tambaqui DAC (and headphone amp)
Sorry if I Hijacked the MMT thread. But, was it looked like misinformation concerning the MPD-8. However I do like the MMT. It was in consideration along with the Grimm Audio MU2 and Rockna Wavedream Signature Bal.- Spawn300Z

I almost did also. But waited. Then now again they did reduced pricing on refurbs. So I let people know. They tend to fall under the radar since must wouldn’t spend that much on closed backs. But they are extremely good.- Spawn300Z

The Stealth Version is what I would actually suggest. It’s actually one of the best deals on Headfi right now. That along with the HE-1000SEs. Don’t forget what the actual MSRP of the HE-R10Ps actually were. Grab the HE-R10P Stealths add a good Hybrid cable and don’t look back. This is my...- Spawn300Z

HIFIMAN HE-R10 Closed-Back Headphones Discussion & Impressions
Have you guys tried a good Hybrid cable. I have never used my stock cables so don’t know what they sound like. I have my HE-R10P Stealths connected with Danacable Lazuli Rhapsody or the Double Helix Cables Mini Chimera.- Spawn300Z

That’s a good review. But I will say if you can go up to $1.400 to 1,500. You would be hard pressed to beat the Hifiman He-R10P. Some have even got the stealth version for good deals of hifimans site. Currently, they have the HE-R10P for $1,400...- Spawn300Z

It has a remote network. I haven’t used it. But would think it would connect to network for a NAS. I connect using a FTA Sinope USB cable. But will ultimately use their PLink.- Spawn300Z

Mola Mola Tambaqui DAC (and headphone amp)
I would disagree with your statement on the MPD-8. Plus it needs about 300 hrs before you truly hear its capabilities. It’s a clear and definite upgrade from the MMT in every way. But everyone had their own perception of what gear sounds like. The MMT is a good DAC which I would not deny. But...- Spawn300Z

HIFIMAN HE-R10 Closed-Back Headphones Discussion & Impressions
I don’t know which version you have. But I don’t have that trouble with the HE-R10P Stealths. I find that I can jam out with them with now issues or harshness at all. I’m even running them off the Chord Hugo 2/ Cayin C9II stack. It’s actually become my main travel closed back set.- Spawn300Z
