Stand alone Max dac?
Any more details on this bad boy? (Or should I say THESE bad boy-S, given that there were some amp-related hints in here as well)? Any new developments to report? (I mean, help me out here -- I'm desperately attempting to destroy my finances, and I think this DAC/amp might just do the trick.)- JeffMac

Switch to High End Headphones from IEMs
I don't know which IEMs you're used to, but I'm switching over from ER-4P/S (which I still love, and use on my commute on the subway) to Denon D5000s at home. Pretty different experience, to say the least, heh. They're very, very comfortable, on my head at least. No problems there. They...- JeffMac

Review: ZERO 24 BIT/192KHz DAC/Headphone Amp/Pre-Amp
Man, Lawrence must have just done a big shipment -- I received my Zero yesterday as well! I love it so far (though only 12 hours of burn in or so.) It has absolutely no problem powering my Senn HD580's. I have yet to give it a good long listen (damn you, job I have to leave the house for!!!)...- JeffMac

Review: ZERO 24 BIT/192KHz DAC/Headphone Amp/Pre-Amp
Bit the bullet, pulled the trigger. I snagged one of these bad boys from biglawhk on ebay. My cheap-a$$ed soul just could no longer pass up such a bargain! Now...the waiting. And more reading through the thread about op-amp rolling. Once I hear what it sounds like stock and burned in, I'd...- JeffMac

Review: ZERO 24 BIT/192KHz DAC/Headphone Amp/Pre-Amp
I've been following this thread recently. I think I've read most of it, and I love the idea of such a budget component allowing what I think are relatively simple upgrade options. I have a couple of questions. First -- (WARNING: Seriously dopey question in 3...2...1) switching out op-amps...- JeffMac

Ety ER-6i upgrade: Shure e4c or Ety ER-4p?
If you liked the fit and the sound of the ER-6i, you will like the ER-4P/S. I recently made the same upgrade. I found the fit to be just about exactly the same. And the sound, while better, isn't totally reinventing the wheel. Everything you like about the 6i is in there, it's all just a little...- JeffMac

Anybody have a DAC that had this problem w/Airport Express...
Thanks, krmathis. Hm. I'm wondering if the Stereophile review (from, you know, May 2005) is referring to an issue that has been fixed by now. Interesting. Seems like nobody's talking about this issue affecting them, so that would be my guess. I wonder if it was fixed in a firmware update at...- JeffMac

Anybody have a DAC that had this problem w/Airport Express...
Hey all, Relative newbie here (but a world class lurker!) gathering some intel on putting together a home/desktop rig. In looking into sources, (based on a WinXp computer with Apple Lossless files) I read the Stereophile review of the Airport Express. They said that some DACs had an issue...- JeffMac
