Questions about an exisiting Beta22 build...

The center transformer is for the dedicated power supply of the Joshua Tree attenuator.   And no, you don't have to rewire any of the transformers to another voltage. All transformers have dual primaries, and the fuse holder contains a switch that connects the primaries of the transformers...

    ** Confessions of a Failing Audiophile ** - I hated the LCD2

Hi Mike, I didn't read all the pages, but I read your first post and understand very much your feeling. Here are my reflections on the subject. I apologise for my bad english, as it is not my native language.   -Probably your biggest mistake was to be an active head-fier. During my...

    A great Solid State amp?

I would consider:   The Beta22, obviously. Not perfect though (but it depends a lot of the build). The Larocco Headcode. Best SS amp in my opinion, though I have not heard the Dynahi yet. The future Harmony Design EAR909 (to be released in a couple of months) might be of interest.  ...

    Goldpoint Headphone Pro

Arn told me about two months ago that he stopped the production of the Goldpoint headphone pro, the reason being that supporting the product was very time consuming.

HD650: Best Headphone AMP + DAC PERIOD?!

I absolutely agree with the statements above. I think you got the wrong approach here.   First of all, never give yourself headache about cables until you have a sufficiently revealing gear.   Now... you have the hd-650, and that's a good basis. But they need a proper amplification. Is...

Roll Call: Who's building, built, or thinking of building a beta22?

Hi,   I have a small issue with my one-chassis 3-channel B22 that I can't figure out: It doesn't seem to have optimally low crosstalk.   I have made two experiments:   1) I disconnected one rca input  (let us say left) from the cd player, and disconnected the opposite output at the...

Is Luxman P1u Input voltage changable?

The P-1 had a transformer with numerous primaries, and could be rewired to any voltage. The P-1u on the other hand has one fixed voltage only, depending of your choice (110v, 115v, 230v)

    EarMax Pro versus Woo WA6

    SPL Phonitor Impressions Thread

Just to clarify something: My Auditor came from B stock, so it is not that scandalous (but still not acceptable since B-stock are supposed to work flawlessly). Anyway, relax, the faulty unit will not land on your hands if you buy A stock (I guess...)

    SPL Phonitor Impressions Thread

Hello, Maybe I can share with you my experience in that regards. I had bought a SPL Auditor which presented some noise, whether the inputs were connected or not. It was not a hum, though, but rather a buzz, which was noticeable at both low volume and high volume, bur strangely desappeared...

    £100 amp for HD-650s (a few requirements)

Hmmm, for £100, you will be very lucky to find something significantly better than the simple headphone output of your laptop. Indeed, the hd-650 need a good amplification to show their best qualities. But, contrary to what is said sometimes, they can be quite enjoyable without it.

SPL Auditor. Most analyitical SS amp for under a grand?

Well, I am actually preparing a big review of the SPL Auditor at this time, but it is taking me a lot of time, and my conclusions are not final yet. But here is a first answer: Yes, the Auditor is probably the most revealing headphone amp I heard.

Lehmann Audio Black Cube + Grado PS1000?

No, the lehmann is significantly better. Still, the Graham Slee Solo is different. I would discribe it as fast, dynamic (very), powerful. It is slightly on the warm side, but a little sibilant as well. But it cannot be compared to the black cube in terms of imaging, density, and control...

Lehmann Audio Black Cube + Grado PS1000?

Hi, The Lehmann BCL is from my point of view an absolutely stunning amp, provided you like its sound signature. Yes, the lehmann has a sound signature (which is a part of his charm), which is to be slightly on the cool side of neutral. Contrary to what a lot of people think, it is not bright...

    black or silver rega

Hum... tough decision. Really, I own and like both for different reasons. The black one looks like a UFO (with the red display), the silver one looks like a crystal star. It is always a matter of association: my black planet looks good in my all dark NAD gear, but my silver Jupiter is marvellous...
