My guess is the cancer is back and he's taking his remaining time on earth off from work .... I also think Apple is lost without him. Look how they floundered when he left the first time.- Xena

IEM search - transparent, flat response
I'll try to say this more plainly: you cannot ever, ever achieve transparency in an earphone because it is SHOVED INTO your ear. It makes physical contact. It cannot "disappear" because you always have tactile contact. Same with headphones. I understand what you want. I bought my Dynaudio...- Xena

IEM search - transparent, flat response
If you were to find earphones with a flat freq. response, you'd probably hate the sound. You are not talking about a speaker creating sound that floats through the air and all freqs hit your ear at the same time ... you are talking about tiny components that create the sound within a small and...- Xena

Disappointed with my Shure SE530's
There are only a few possible problems here: 1. fake phones. (I don't recommend buying these from Ebay.) 2. Improper insertion 3. crap source (low bitrate, poor player). 4. Defective unit. 5. Defective ears. If the Bose phones sounded great to you, SE530s may not be your ideal earphone.- Xena

W3/IE8/TF10/SE530??? Sony S630 or Sandisk Clip?

Shures, shures, and shures (Great deal on em')
I just ordered 2 pairs of the SCL4 ... one for me and one for a friend. Makes me wonder if an upgraded model is coming out soon ... prices like this generally foretell a "clearing the channel."- Xena

Alternatives to Etymotics for Classical
I can't recommend UE SF3 for classical. I listen to a lot of classical, and the UE is quite weak in the high end AND the low end. The mids are pretty good. I love my SE530s with classical, though they are the slightest bit rolled off in the highs. Still acceptable with most classical CDs I...- Xena
