The (Un)Official Amp Thread For ZMF Headphones
If you want to keep it under 1K, I have heard good things about the Lyr 3 and Modi Multibit DAC combo from Schiit Although I haven't heard it myself. I had heard the LYR 2, and it was an amazing tube hybrid. The Lyr3 is supposed to be a step up in all areas... hopefully I'll get to hear one at...- jinxy245

ZMF BOKEH - Closed Back (Semi-Portable)
I've found that the 'muffled sound' usually has to do with how a headphone is damped and tuned, especially the bass to midrange transition. The Bokeh has really clear mids IMO and definitely doesn't sound muffled to my ears. The treble may be one of the most prominent ZMF has in their closed...- jinxy245

Here's one to be filed under "inspired by". IDK if anyone has gotten a chance to catch the Broadway production (my wife & I loved it) or heard the OG cast recording of "Stereophonic", but one listen & you immediately peg the Fleetwood Mac vibes. Will Butler from Arcade Fire penned the tunes, I...- jinxy245

The (Un)Official Amp Thread For ZMF Headphones
If I've learned anything in this hobby it's that synergy is key. I know it's kind of an overused word at this point, as well as being notoriously difficult to define/describe but saying "this amp is the best for ZMFs" really only would tell part of the story. There's a matter of preferences...- jinxy245

THE WATERCOOLER HEADPHONE EDITION – Headphones, Amps, DACs, and desktop/home audio related – a freewheeling discussion of gear, impressions, music, and musings.
One up and coming headphone company that flies under the radar is ETA audio. Their headphones are very well tuned IMO and reasonably priced to boot. They're currently using a Sony headband which is collapsible making them very portable, but it also gives them something of a DIY feel. A...- jinxy245

The (Un)Official Amp Thread For ZMF Headphones
I was going to reply, but Eric covered it better than I could. It's not quite in the same league as the Aegis IMO which isn't really a surprise given the price difference, but I was pleasantly surprised that the performance delta was closer than I expected. Aegis is much quieter, wider...- jinxy245

ZMF Verite Closed-New Closed Back ZMF Flagship.
The Verite drivers were the ones Zach cautioned needed a fork-ton of burn in, and I found it to be true when I had a loaner in house. Something about the beryllium drivers really need it I guess.- jinxy245

Definitely bucket list that one, they're worth hearing IMO. I've had the pleasure of the hearing the Stratus only a couple of times, but it wowed me. Donald knows how to build amps!!- jinxy245

ZMF Atrium - new open-back co-flagship
I'll say that I've had many wonderful experiences with the Atrium on SS amps. I wouldn't be dissatisfied with the Atrium solely on the right SS, but I'll also say that the best experiences I've had were with tubes. It definitely can depend upon the price tier you're playing in ofc, many amps in...- jinxy245

For me, "regret" isn't the right word. I understand why I made just about every decision I made along my audio journey, and I'm happy with the decisions I've made. That doesn't mean that I don't sometime miss the Aeolus...- jinxy245

I'd recommend getting ears on an ETA Mini-C. Not quite in the same league as far as detail retrieval, but tonaly a really good headphone with a lot to offer. Relatively inexpensive too, at least in comparison to the above headphones.- jinxy245

If you're curious about jazz, here's something I found to be really interesting. This is a good group of musicians turning a Nirvana classic into a jazz tune. Personally I love it, I hope you dig it too.- jinxy245

I haven't looked in quite a while, but I remember one of the advertisers on Inner Fidelity was "The Cable Company". They had (and I think still have) a headphone lending library, but I believe they lend other equipment as well. IIRC you pay for shipping plus a 10% fee to borrow, and that fee...- jinxy245

ZMF Caldera Closed
I had one in for demo for a couple of weeks, and from y experience I'd say you are indeed on the right track here. No metallic timber to my ears, though I do imagine chain would play a part here (I'm not familiar with the RME ADI-2-DAC nor the Burson Conductor, and OTL would be hit or miss with...- jinxy245
