Upgrade from Sundara for Metal (Doom / Heavy / Black / Death). Ananda Nano?
Interesting! I thought the Edition XS was a downgrade in terms of everything. You're thinking it's better for metal music than the Nano? I'm wondering if Arya is worth 2x the money of the Nano :-)- DoomForce

Upgrade from Sundara for Metal (Doom / Heavy / Black / Death). Ananda Nano?
Hi folks, I'm a happy owner of a Sundara which I drive with a trusty old Meridian explorer USB Dac and Amp. I'm looking to upgrade, and I was wondering if I should give the Ananda nano or the Arya Stealth a try - or is something more expensive like an LCD-X worth it? Any feedback is highly...- DoomForce

Replace foam of earpads?
Hi folks. I have a pair of Ultrasone Edition 8 with "Ethiopian sheepskin leather" earpads and headband. The leather is still sort of fine after the years, but the foam has collapsed to nothing. Would you recommend I cut them open from the back and replace the foam inside, do people do that...- DoomForce

Metal music - (open?) can recommendation
The DT 1990 PRO seems interesting, however the 250 Ohms impedance sounds like it will be harder to drive. I'm not sure if the guy in the marketing picture is driving them fine straight from the Macbook...- DoomForce

Metal music - (open?) can recommendation
Hi folks, I am looking for a headphone to match doom, death, black, heavy, and a bit of progressive metal music, with a budget of up to 600 Euros (700 USD). Does an open can make sense here? Headphones for metal music - ultimate solution
Hi guys. I'm looking for a headphone for doom/death/black metal with a budget up to 600 euros in Europe. I'm OK with open headphones (will mainly use them at home), and I have a pair of wireless Sennheiser PXC550 which I don't quite like them for this type of metal music. Sound a bit lifeless to...- DoomForce

How do modern bluetooth headphones compare to cabled classics?
I see your points. I've been feeling similarly. Most often I reach out for my bluetooth cans, because of the convenience, the ease of use. At the same time, I have very expensive headphones sitting in a drawer because it's just.. not worth taking them out, too much hassle to set them up, let...- DoomForce

How do modern bluetooth headphones compare to cabled classics?
Hi guys, I am guessing this topic has been beaten to death, but I can tell that the headphone technology with bluetooth is getting better and better with every iteration. Open headphone for rock/metal?
Hi guys, I'll get straight to the point, I was hoping you could recommend an open can for listening to metal music, that does not have crazy needs for amplification (I have a Meridian Explorer to power it). My budget is maximum 700$. Is LCD-2 still a good idea, or should I be looking elsewhere...- DoomForce

How to equalize your headphones: A Tutorial
How often do you equalize your phones? I decided to follow your advice and skip the pink noise part and adjust mainly though trying to flatten the sine wave. How to equalize your headphones: A Tutorial
Just the standard method of finding the peaks with a sine wave, then using a pink noise to flatten out the peaks. I takes about -7db for the peak at 6800 Hz (band width 200 Hz) to flatten out for me, but that results in a slightly muffled sound, which I perceive as loss of fidelity.- DoomForce

How to equalize your headphones: A Tutorial
I've been finding peaks on my headphones and equalizing them successfully now, but a new problem has risen. When I play back a song and try listening to it with and without the EQ, I can 'feel' a loss of fidelity in the EQ profile with the chopped peaks, even when I've reduced the gain of the...- DoomForce
