    Sony MDR-1000x - earpad replacement & mod

I'm probably going back to stock, even though it's more ear sweats, I think the loss in ambient sound reduction is probably too much The inner side of these pads appear to be lower quality leather and it's not memory foam. I would recommend people make sure the el cheapo eBay pads they buy say...

https://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/comments/6dp19r/mdr1000x_with_msr7_pads This guy uses official MSR7 pads, I'm too cheap for that, so ordering 10 dollar ones off eBay instead

    Sony MDR-1000x - earpad replacement & mod

It's 5 bucks, I don't know what you expect at that price. I have to swap the pads back to confirm, but I do think noise cancelling suffers in the mid range after swapping. The mids sound a little less bassy and the highs got a little bit piercing, but I'm not sure if it's because the pads are...

    Sony MDR-1000x - earpad replacement & mod

I finally got my MDR1a pads from China after 2 months... Here they are. The holes didn't match up so I had to cut mine own with xacto knife, but otherwise it's about the same thickness as the original, the foam doesn't feel quite as dense, but the opening is definitely a bit bigger. Still...

Sony 1000x mark ii - huzzah!

I got mine a week ago and I hear a constant white noise from both sides when ANC is on. From all my googling though that seems normal, you will hear some ANC circuitry noise when you're in quiet environments. What you're describing though doesn't right... if it's broken it should be on both...

    Westone UM PRO Series Thread

My UMPro 50's cable just about gave out after 2 years. I contacted Westone but they wanted me to send the whole thing in at my cost (and I'm in Canada where shipping packages are pretty expensive, probably would have to put some shipping insurance on it, too). Instead I went on Ebay and bought...

I got myself a Sabaj DA1 , works great except my phone insists on reverse charging it, setting it to midi doesn't appear to stick in terms of power draw, still wats up about 100mW. Does anyone know if there is a way to make it draw less power?

I bought some MDR-1A earpads off ebay for 5 bucks, will report on how well they work versus stock. Hopefully no gluing will be necessary since the back is already made for similar looking plastic clips.

    Sony MDR-1000X

Hey guys, I got the mark 2s but I've been noticing that there's a bit of ANC noise when it's on, which I accept to be normal given the number of reviews I've read mentioning it. But what is weird to me is I hear this almost faucet running in the house like sound when in quick attention mode /...

Sony 1000x mark ii - huzzah!

Just got these for Christmas, does anyone else hear a faint whisper ANC noise when it's turned on? I've read that this is expected, and it doesn't bother me as much while music is playing. What I'm not sure about is when I turn NC to ambient mode (level 20 in the app), in silent rooms I can...

Hey guys just an update on my um pro 50s. I pretty much quit headfi for a while after I got them to stop myself from wanting anything else since I blew my budget for the year... Anyway, last time I posted I was having problem with the seal, none of the star tips for me very well and nothing...

    Westone UM PRO Series Thread

The black coloured true fits do give me a solid seal, its just that I feel a little bit like my right ear's stuffed, which is unfortunate because the isolation is pretty amazing (coming from ie80). The grey star tips (the default set) are almost okay, but I just feel like the right side is hit...

    Westone UM PRO Series Thread

I've been struggling to get a good seal with my um pro 50, my right ear canal is bigger than my left and both are bent so they don't like any of the longer tips. So far the only thing that fits okay are the black coloured foams, but even those feels a bit too tight / sometimes if I don't insert...

Best IEM for under $200 Canadian

Try the "rock" eq setting, if you like boosted low end and treble then you like the V signature, if you really want to get intimate with the singers' voice then you'll want something more balanced or mid centric

Best IEM for under $200 Canadian

If you like V signature then you might like Momentum, if you like "audiophile" quality then you won't.  Sennheiser did just come out with a new cx3 and cx5 though (although 5 looks kinda.... meh), but both are more mainstream.   I don't know if anyone around here still uses monster turbines...
